Over-the-air channel state information acquirement for a massive MIMO channel emulator with over-the-air connection
This invention presents a channel emulator for testing a multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) wireless communication system using an over-the-air (OTA) connection between the antennas of a base station (BS) and the channel emulator. It uses pilot signals with special structures to estimate the channel matrix between the BS and the channel emulator, equalizes the channel when performing emulation of the channels between the BS and a plural of user equipment (UEs) in MU-MIMO communication.
DIRECTIONAL CHANNEL ACCESS USING A NARROW BEAM WITH MULTIPLE SPATIAL STREAMS
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Aspects of the disclosure describe narrow beam-based channel access that enables a device to communicate in a shared radio frequency spectrum band without performing channel access procedures. Specifically, aspects of the disclosure describe techniques for defining one or more directional beams as a narrow beam, where the relative narrowness of the beam may be determined in the context of interference (e.g., as opposed to being defined from a geometric perspective). For example, a particular beam may be determined to be a narrow beam, and therefore associated with communications in shared radio frequency spectrum bands without channel access procedures, based on one or more metrics and a number of spatial streams associated with the beam. A device may use such narrow beams for communications without channel access procedures in shared radio frequency spectrum bands.
Cell Quality Derivation Configuration
According to certain embodiments, a method is disclosed for use in a network node. The method comprises determining at least one parameter N per carrier frequency. The parameter N indicates a maximum number of beams to be used by a wireless device for signal measurements in a cell. The method comprises communicating the parameter(s) N to the wireless device.
Processing of communications signals using machine learning
One or more processors control processing of radio frequency (RF) signals using a machine-learning network. The one or more processors receive as input, to a radio communications apparatus, a first representation of an RF signal, which is processed using one or more radio stages, providing a second representation of the RF signal. Observations about, and metrics of, the second representation of the RF signal are obtained. Past observations and metrics are accessed from storage. Using the observations, metrics and past observations and metrics, parameters of a machine-learning network, which implements policies to process RF signals, are adjusted by controlling the radio stages. In response to the adjustments, actions performed by one or more controllers of the radio stages are updated. A representation of a subsequent input RF signal is processed using the radio stages that are controlled based on actions including the updated one or more actions.
Method and arrangement for signaling of parameters in a wireless network
A mobile terminal receives, over a first cell configured on a carrier frequency, at least one parameter associated with a second cell configured on a carrier frequency. The at least one parameter comprises a cell identity. The mobile terminal then derives at least one physical layer characteristic for the second cell based on the received at least one parameter. Thereby, the mobile terminal is able to receive transmissions over the second cell, even if it could not initially detect the presence of the cell.
Method and apparatus for analyzing communication environments and designing networks in consideration of trees
A method for identifying radio signal transmission characteristics in a wireless communication system and an apparatus therefor are provided. The method may include identifying a signal transmission site, identifying a signal reception site, finding an area where a tree is present between the signal transmission site and the signal reception site, checking characteristics of the crown of the tree and characteristics of the trunk of the tree, and examining transmission characteristics of a radio signal sent from the signal transmission site to the signal reception site on the basis of the characteristics of the crown and the trunk. The method and apparatus relate to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for internet of things (IoT), and may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication and the IoT-related technologies.
