MANAGEMENT OF DERMAL NEUROFIBROMATOSIS LESIONS
Dermal neurofibroma, in particular Neurofibromatosis Type I (NF1) leads to progressive tumor proliferation with no known mechanism to inhibit growth. The present invention relates to the use of photodynamic therapy (PDT) for attenuating tumor growth in NF1 patients. More particularly the invention provides a method of treating dermal neurofibroma comprising topically applying a pharmaceutical composition comprising a photosensitizer to the affected area of a patient, incubating the affected area, and irradiating the affected area with a light of suitable wavelength as per the photosensitizer used, wherein the treatment is characterized by inhibiting the progression of tumor growth and/or reduction in tumor size and/or increased mortality rate of the neurofibroma cell.
PHOTOTHERAPY FACE MASK
A phototherapy mask for phototherapy treatment of a user. The phototherapy mask includes a backing layer, an electronics layer, a skin-contacting layer and fastening means. The phototherapy mask is adapted to fold about the face of the user in a first plane and shaped to releasably fasten about the head of the user using the fastening means. The phototherapy mask includes at least one facial treatment region adapted to fold in a second plane relative to the first plane.
CANNULA SYSTEM FOR BODY FAT REMOVAL
The cannula can have a connector configured to be electrically connected to a source of electrical power; a tip comprising: a printed circuit board (PCB); a first LED operatively connected and attached to the PCB and configured to emit light in a first wavelength range; and a shell configured to allow the light in the first wavelength range to pass from the first LED outside of the shell; and a middle section located between the connector and the tip, the middle section comprising: a hollow tube attached to the shell, the tube having apertures for collecting a liquid fat into the tube.
Methods and devices for thermoregulation of core body temperature through application of near infrared radiation and localized thermal transfer on skin surfaces
The invention presents methods and devices for controlling and modifying the core body temperature of a human or other mammal. The apparatus contains an element to be placed in contact with an individual's skin, such as the palm of a hand or sole of a foot; the element emits radiation, preferably within the red to infrared range of 550 nm to 950 nm, inducing vasodilation and increased blood flow in the region beneath the contacting area. A heat exchange element is concurrently in contact with the skin, capable of transferring heat into or removing heat from the circulatory vasculature, through the skin surface. The circulatory system carries the increase or decrease in thermal energy to the body's core organs. As such the method and devices are capable of increasing or decreasing the core body temperature, or maintaining current core body temperature in the presence of external thermal elements.
Cognitive optogenetics probe and analysis
Technical solutions are described for implementing an optogenetics treatment using a probe and probe controller are described. A probe controller controls a probe to perform the method that includes emitting, by a light source of the probe, the probe is embeddable in a tissue, a light wave to interact with a corresponding chemical in one or more cells in the tissue. The method further includes capturing, by a sensor of the probe, a spectroscopy of the light wave interacting with the corresponding chemical. The method further includes sending, by the probe, the spectroscopy to an analysis system. The method further includes receiving, by the probe, from the analysis system, adjusted parameters for the light source, and adjusting, by a controller of the probe, settings of the light source according to the received adjusted parameters to emit a different light wave to interact with the corresponding chemical.
Tip for multiple beam tissue therapy
The invention provides a tip that permits therapeutic electromagnetic energy systems to deliver multiple beams of overlapping, partially overlapping, and non-overlapping electromagnetic energy in the treatment of tissue disorders and conditions. The tip finds use with laser systems, intense pulsed light systems, LED systems, radiofrequency systems, and microwave systems.
Phototherapy for domesticated animals method and apparatus
A method and apparatus to provide phototherapy to companion animals. The apparatus includes at least one light source configured to flood illuminate inside a housing, a housing sized to surround at least one companion animal, and a control system to adjust the light flux and light duration of the at least one light source. The method includes providing said apparatus and flood illuminating at least one companion animal with a clinically significant light flux and light duration.
ILLUMINATION SYSTEM COMPRISING A LIGHT GUIDE HAVING A DIFFUSER ELEMENT
An illumination system for a medical technology therapy and/or diagnosis system is provided. The system includes a light source, preferably a laser light source, and a light guide, which at a proximal end can be connected to the at least one light source and/or can be assigned thereto, and which system has at the distal end of the light guide a diffuser element having a longitudinal axis which extends into or in the diffuser element perpendicularly with respect to an input face of the light guide, wherein the diffuser element emits light laterally with respect to the longitudinal axis over its active length in the operating state, wherein the diffuser element has at least one diffuser base body and the diffuser base body contains a matrix that has at least one scattering element and is enclosed at least on its cladding surface by a solid encapsulation.
HANDHELD WOUND CARE DEVICE
