Allocating streaming content on a hybrid network can include searching for streaming content broadcast via broadcast signals over a broadcast network as a communications device is receiving the streaming content via a cellular network. Responsive to identifying, based on the searching, a within-range broadcast source broadcasting the streaming content via broadcast signals, the communications device can begin receiving the streaming content via the broadcast signals over the broadcast network and cease receiving the streaming content via the cellular network.

The present disclosure relates to a method for operating a media reproduction device for a motor vehicle. Media information is received in a first and a second reception mode and reproduced based on the strength of the first and second reception. A temporal transmission delay between the reception modes is detected and compensated for by an electronic computing device. The surroundings of the motor vehicle are divided into at least two reception tiles, and each reception tile is assigned a first and a second reception strength value. The electronic computing device decides which reception mode to use to receive the media information in each reception tile and when to compensate the temporal transmission delay if it has been determined that the media information is received in the first reception tile in the first reception mode and in the second reception tile in the second reception mode.

An address of a streaming media station corresponding to the station identifier is transmitted from the media broadcast system to the hybrid media device. A request to receive the streaming media station is transmitted from the hybrid media device and received at the media broadcast system, which transmits the streaming media station to the hybrid media device, in response to the request.
