Method and apparatus for communicating emergency information
A method that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example transmitting, by a system comprising a processor, via a first emergency media channel a first video stream comprising first evacuation routing information for a first evacuation group responsive to receiving a notification of an emergency event, instructing, by the system, a first media processor device to select the first emergency media channel while disabling selection of other media channels according to the first evacuation routing information, where the content of the emergency media channel is presented at a display device by way of the first media processor device, and enabling, by the system, the first media processor device to select the other media channels responsive to receiving user input acknowledging the emergency media channel. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Network performance management for broadcast messaging
A system that allows for performance indicators such as a success rate of a broadcast message or latency between a sender and mobile station of a broadcast message, during emergency broadcasts to a wireless transmit/receive unit, such as a mobile phone.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DATACASTING AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT
A method and system for datacasting and content management. Such a system may have, as its core, a dashboard system for managing data feeds. A dashboard system may receive data feeds from one or more associated devices, such as the hardware devices of first responders or other public safety officers, and may aggregate and prioritize them. The dashboard system may then manage, prioritize and encrypt the video, files and other data in preparation for broadcast over the television or satellite transmitter, via, for example, a television broadcasting station, and may then broadcast the video, files, or other data to a plurality of users. Alerts and notifications may be created, files attached and links to video streams distributed over this same broadcast network. The broadcasting system may be able to send multiple streams of content simultaneously, may be able to target specific users to be broadcast to, and may be able to incorporate data from public data sources, such as public security cameras.
System and method for inserting break-in signals in communication systems
A system and method are provided for transmitting signals while facilitating channel-specific signal insertion to local user terminals. In one mode, a communication device may operate to transmit signals from a remote signal source (via a communication network infrastructure) to one or more local user terminals. In a second, the communication device may insert a locally-obtained break-in signal into one or more downlink communication channels, and/or bands, thereby providing the break-in signal to one or more specific local user terminals. In this manner, communications over a communication channel to a local user terminal may be interrupted by or mixed with an inserted break-in signal to the user terminal. Additionally, the communication device may also operate to establish bidirectional communications between a local operator and one or more user terminals as well as relay communications between two or more local user terminals while bypassing the conventional network infrastructure.

Transmitting/receiving system and method for processing a broadcast signal
A method and broadcast terminal for receiving an emergency alert message in a sleep mode, are discussed. In one embodiment, the method includes monitoring fast information channel (FIC) wake-up indicator in an FIC segment to determine if the broadcast terminal should be switched to an active mode to receive the emergency alert message; getting an FIC-Chunk payload responsive to the FIC wake-up indicator in the FIC segment, the FIC-Chunk payload including an emergency alert data package indicator; receiving an alert data indicated by a data package identification included in the FIC-Chunk payload, the emergency alert data package indicator indicating an emergency alert table describing the emergency alert message is carried in the data; and parsing the emergency alert message based on the emergency alert table.
