The disclosure describes a system and method for the reprogramming of the electronic control units (ECU) devices simultaneously in one or more motor vehicles using a radio broadcast system to transmit a digital radio signal to a receiving electronic control units (ECU) device present in the motor vehicles.

A synchronization server creates an augmented radio listener experience by providing additional information, especially visual information, over a concurrent, parallel data connection to a user device during the radio broadcast. The additional information is synchronized to the radio broadcast item then playing, based on an event message received by the synchronization server from the radio station equipment. The synchronization server can implement real-time interactions between connected radio listeners and a disk jockey dashboard of the radio station. The synchronization server optionally can personalize advertisement content for transmission to user devices based on user profile information and audience criteria provided by the advertiser.

The system includes at least a short-range communication beacon associated with at least one business; and an advertisement (ad) generator, the ad generator comprising a user interface for receiving advertising inputs from the at least one business, the advertising inputs at least including promotional information about the business; a processor configured to generate at least one advertisement (ad) for the at least one business based on the promotional information; and a communication interface configured to receive a signal that includes at least one identifier of the short-range transmitter proximate a mobile communication device and associated with the at least one business. The communication interface sends at least one generated ad to the mobile communication device, based on the received transmitter identifier, for display thereon.

A reception device receives a token which is auxiliary search information for efficiently searching for metadata such as access information related to acquisition-scheduled data of the reception device and performs a search process using the token. A reception apparatus includes receiver circuitry configured to receive a digital broadcast signal and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to acquire a first application that handles acquisition of content reproduced in non-realtime, the first application acquired on the basis of first signaling data included in the digital broadcast signal. The processing circuitry is further configured to acquire metadata, which includes information for controlling the content acquisition in response to operation of the first application, the metadata included in the digital broadcast signal. The processing circuitry is further configured to control acquisition of the content reproduced in non-realtime by controlling the operation of the first application on the basis of the metadata.

The present technology relates to a receiving apparatus, a transmitting apparatus, and a data processing method which are capable of providing detailed information of emergency information that is to be announced in case of emergency. The receiving apparatus receives a digital broadcast signal, and performs a process with respect to an emergency information application for presenting detailed information of emergency information on the basis of control information that is included in the digital broadcast signal and that includes information about the detailed information of the emergency information which needs to be announced urgently. A broadcast receiving device is provided with: a broadcast receiving unit which receives a digital broadcast signal including broadcast program video and application-related information; a storage unit which stores the received broadcast program video and application-related information; a video decoding unit which decodes the video; an application acquisition unit which acquires an application on the basis of location information included in the application-related information; an application execution unit which executes the acquired application; an output unit which is able to output the video; and a control unit for reproducing and decoding the broadcast program video from the storage unit, reproducing the application-related information from the storage unit, acquiring the application on the basis of the location information included in the reproduced application-related information, and executing the acquired application.
