An apparatus and method for broadcast signal frame using layered division multiplexing are disclosed. An apparatus for generating broadcast signal frame according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a combiner configured to generate a multiplexed signal by combining a core layer signal and an enhanced layer signal at different power levels; a power normalizer configured to reduce the power of the multiplexed signal to a power level corresponding to the core layer signal; a time interleaver configured to generate a time-interleaved signal by performing interleaving that is applied to both the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal; and a frame builder configured to generate a broadcast signal frame including a preamble for signaling, size information of Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs) and time interleaver information shared by the core layer signal and the enhanced layer signal.

In some embodiments, at a data use (DU) location, an automatic closed captioning system that includes a base model is provided, search criteria are defined to request from one or more data collection (DC) locations, a search request based on the search criteria is sent to the one or more DC locations, relevant closed caption data from the one or more DC locations are received responsive to the search request, the received relevant closed caption data are processed by computing a confidence score for each of a plurality of data sub-sets of the received relevant closed caption data and selecting one or more of the data sub-sets based on the confidence scores, and the automatic closed captioning system is customized by using the selected one or more data sub-sets to train the base model.

A transmitting apparatus is provided. The transmitting apparatus includes: a frame generator configured to generate a frame including a plurality of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols; and a guard interval (GI) inserter configured to insert GIs into the generated frame, wherein the plurality of OFDM symbols are divided into a bootstrap, a preamble, and a payload, and the GI inserter inserts first GIs having a size corresponding to a fast Fourier transform (FFT) size of each of OFDM symbols configuring the payload into front ends of each of the OFDM symbols, inserts second GIs having a size corresponding to a quotient obtained by dividing an extra region of the payload calculated based on the FFT size of the OFDM symbols configuring the payload, the number of OFDM symbols, and the size of the first GIs by the number of OFDM symbols into front ends of each of the first GIs, and inserts a cyclic postfix (CP) having a size corresponding to the remainder remaining after dividing the extra region of the payload by the number of OFDM symbols into a rear end of a final OFDM symbol configuring the payload.

A process to partition a video feed to segment live player activity includes receiving, on a first recurring basis, a transmission of a central video feed from a first camera. The central video feed is calibrated against a spatial region represented in at least two dimensions that is encompassed by the central video feed. The process includes receiving, on a second recurring basis, a respective time-stamped position information from each tracking device in a plurality of tracking devices. Each tracking device is worn by a corresponding subject on the spatial region and transmits positional information that describes a time-stamped position of the corresponding subject in the spatial region. The process uses the received information and the calibration to define a first sub-view of the central video feed associated with a first subject. The first sub-view comprises a corresponding sub-frame associated with the first subject.

A demodulation device includes a demodulation unit configured to demodulate a first transmission packet obtained from a broadcast signal, and an output unit configured to output a divided packet via a predetermined interface, the divided packet being obtained by dividing the first transmission packet that is a variable-length packet used in a first transmission method into a packet length according to a second transmission packet that is a fixed-length packet used in a second transmission method and arranging the first transmission packet in a payload, and adding a header including information for restoring the first transmission packet to the payload. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a demodulation IC incorporated in a television receiver or a set top box.
