Systems and methods for assessing viewer engagement
11509956 · 2022-11-22 · ·

A system for quantifying viewer engagement with a video playing on a display includes at least one camera to acquire image data of a viewing area in front of the display. A microphone acquires audio data emitted by a speaker coupled to the display. The system also includes a memory to store processor-executable instructions and a processor. Upon execution of the processor-executable instructions, the processor receives the image data and the audio data and determines an identity of the video displayed on the display based on the audio data. The processor also estimates a first number of people present in the viewing area and a second number of people engaged with the video. The processor further quantifies the viewer engagement of the video based on the first number of people and the second number of people.

Methods and Apparatus to Estimate Ratings for Media Assets Using Social Media

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to estimate ratings for media assets using social media are disclosed. An example method includes accessing media exposure data and social media activity data corresponding to a plurality of media assets in a media bundle, the media assets included in the media bundle having audience demographics that overlap with a first media asset, determining a first credibility factor for the first media asset and average exposure for social media activity count values for respective ones of the media assets in the media bundle based on the media exposure data and the social media activity data, and applying the first credibility factor to an average exposure per social media activity count value determined for the first media asset to estimate the ratings for the first media asset.

Systems and methods for automatically identifying a user preference for a participant from a competition event

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining a preference of a user for or against a participant of an event when a media asset relating to the event is being played based on monitoring user reactions to the event. Specifically, the media guidance application may detect a change of at least one of the biometric state (e.g., pulse rate, blood pressure, etc.) and physiological state (e.g., facial expression, gesture, body movement, etc.) with a user. The media guidance application may determine that an event has occurred within the sporting event that triggered the change. The media guidance application may determine that the user favors the first participant over the second participant, if the user reacts positively towards a score for the first participant in the event.

Broadcast response method and system

A system and method for broadcast response generally employing RDS, DARC, or similar technology is provided, including a method for responding to a broadcast comprising extracting an event identifier from a broadcast signal; detecting a response by a user to the broadcast signal; polling a communications device to determine a user identifier; and communicating the event identifier and the user identifier when the user response is detected.

Digital content and response processing system and method

Systems and methods are provided for allowing responses to offers displayed with digital content. The responses may be provided on a receiver system via a conventional feedback through the same distribution channel through which the content and offer were provided, or through an alternative channel, with data being transmitted from an alternative channel device to a transacting entity. For time-shifted playback, content is identified and time-adapted offers may be provided, taking into account factors such as the content, the time of play back, the date of play back, and so forth. The alternate response channel may be more suitable for time-adapted offer responses then for contemporaneously transmitted offers.

Measuring Video-Asset Viewing
20230169443 · 2023-06-01 ·

A computer-implemented method of using channel tuning data from a video asset viewing device connected to a network to measure video asset viewing at a second-by-second level during one or more user defined lead-in periods, and then correlating that with video asset viewing during a user defined target period, for the purpose of analyzing how viewing activity during the lead-in period(s) correlates with viewing activity during the target period, thus producing longitudinal viewing metrics; all while maintaining viewer anonymity. Additionally, viewing metrics can be categorized based on user defined demographic, geographic, and histogram groupings representing the percentage of video asset viewing with the result that the analyst is able to gain detailed insight into customer viewing behavior. The lead-in video asset may be any video asset or assets. The target may be any subsequent video asset. The metrics produced are useful to service providers, advertisers, and content producers.

METHOD OF MONITORING THE BEHAVIOR OF A COHORT GROUP OF MEMBERS
20170311860 · 2017-11-02 ·

A method of monitoring the behavior of a cohort group of members, including: a cohort group behavior monitoring step during which the behavior of the members of the cohort group of members is monitored so as to provide behavior data; and a vision information generating step during which vision information relating to the vision of the members of the cohort group is generated based on the monitoring of the behavior data over time.
