FOOTWEAR AND INSERT HAVING THERAPEUTIC LIGHT SOURCE
An insole for an article of footwear includes an insole support member and a side-emitting optical fiber fixed with respect to the insole support member. The insole support member is made from a cushioning material and includes a top surface and a bottom surface. The side-emitting optical fiber is configured to project radiation having a therapeutic wavelength along the length of and outwardly through a side of the side-emitting optical fiber and toward a wearer’s foot when the insole is positioned in the article of footwear and the article of footwear is worn. At least a majority of an uppermost surface of the side-emitting optical fiber is disposed beneath a foot-contacting surface that is in contact with the wearer’s foot when the insole is positioned in the article of footwear and the article of footwear is worn.
Systems and methods for anti-microbial effect for bones
Systems and methods for restructure and stabilization of bones that provide an anti-microbial effect are disclosed herein. A device includes a delivery catheter having an inner void for passing at least one light sensitive liquid, and an inner lumen; an expandable member releasably engaging the distal end of the delivery catheter; at least one channel positioned in the expandable member; and a light conducting fiber sized to pass through the inner lumen of the delivery catheter and into the expandable member, wherein, when the light conducting fiber is in the at least one channel, the light conducting fiber is able to disperse light energy to provide an anti-microbial effect. When the light conducting fiber is in the expandable member, the light conducting fiber is able to disperse the light energy to initiate hardening of the light sensitive liquid within the expandable member to form a photodynamic implant.
PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY APPARATUS FOR LOCAL TARGETING IN CANCER TREATMENT AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention relates to a photodynamic therapy apparatus for local targeting in cancer treatment. More specifically, an endoscope is placed in the center of an end portion of a probe used in photodynamic therapy and a plurality of optical fibers are arranged along the edge thereof, so that a lesion site is irradiated with a plurality of lights while the plurality of optical fibers of the probe receive lights from individual light sources, respectively, to perform light irradiation individually. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an apparatus, wherein unnecessary damage to normal tissues is minimized by controlling light irradiation regions, for instance, by defining light irradiation regions encompassing a lesion site from an image provided in real time through an endoscope disposed at an end portion of a probe and allowing only individual light sources irradiating the defined light irradiation regions to emit lights to achieve local light irradiation. Therefore, the photodynamic therapy apparatus for local targeting of the present invention is capable of treating various types of cancers or tumors to which local treatment is applicable due to small-sized lesion sites, including cervical cancer, female cancers (endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, and breast cancer), skin cancer, brain cancer, and the like.
OPTICAL PROBE
To prove an optical probe that can illuminate an entire desired region at one time, even in a narrow space. An optical probe including: a linear light guide to guide light from a light source device; a planar emitter to be connected to a tip portion of the linear light guide, to emit the light; a reflective surface provided in a part of the planar emitter, to reflect the light having entered the planar emitter; and an emitting surface provided so as to face the reflective surface, to allow the light reflected by the reflective surface to be emitted from a region of the reflective surface.
System for simulation of environmental energy
Disclosed is a device that utilizes a light-field display to project a virtual continuum of real world perspectives of a natural scene to a plurality of observer viewpoints to simulate a natural environment. An observer perceives different perspectives as he or she moves through the simulated environment just like the observer would as if he or she were in a natural environment.
Methods For Treating Disorders And For Stimulating Stem Cells By Administering Light Therapy
The disclosure relates generally to methods for treating or slowing progression of a tumor, a neurodegenerative disease or a cognitive impairment, and for improving cognition, comprising administration of light therapy. The disclosure also relates to methods for activating oral stem cells, comprising administration of light therapy. Further provided herein are methods for improving cognition, comprising administering to the oral cavity of a subject in need thereof an effective amount of light. Additionally provided herein are methods for treating autism or Asperger's syndrome, comprising administering to the oral cavity of a subject in need thereof an effective amount of light.
LIGHT FIELD VISION-CORRECTION DEVICE
Devices utilizing holographic 4D plenoptic capture and display technologies to generate a light field function to provide glasses-less vision correction for observers with imperfect vision, and to project an image according to the generated light field function, and methods for calibrating a four-dimensional light field for a user with an uncorrected visual acuity.
Vitamin D lighting system
A lighting system comprises a housing, an arrangement of UV-B LEDs in the housing and a fabric output screen which provides a UV-B exit surface. This provides UV-B light for an indoor application in order to replicate the health benefits of natural sunlight.
INSERTION DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCTION OF EMITTED LIGHT INTERNAL TO A MEDIUM AND METHODS FOR THEIR USE
A system and method for emitting a wavelength of energy internal to a medium or internal to a human or animal subject, and methods for using the system in the treatment of a condition, disorder, or disease. The system includes 1) a source configured to produce an initiation signal penetrating at least a part of the medium or the human or animal subject and 2) an insertion device having an electronics assembly unit. The assembly unit includes 1) an emitter configured to emit the wavelength of energy of a predetermined type to treat a disease or disorder in the human or animal subject or to produce a change in the medium and 2) a receiver that receives the signal.
LIGHT OUTPUTTING DEVICE FOR SCALP CARE
