Selecting a control channel set in a communication system involves monitoring received signals to identify a plurality of nodes of interest (NOI) and determining E.sub.b/N.sub.0 values for a plurality of control channels. For this purpose, a data metric and spectral data can be provided to the communication device by the respective NOI for which E.sub.b/N.sub.0 values are being determined. A comparison is made of the E.sub.b/N.sub.0 values for all NOI to select an optimal control channel set. The optimal control channel set is then used by the communication device to transmit the control channel information to the plurality of NOI.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERFERENCE MITIGATION UTILIZING ANTENNA PATTERN ADJUSTMENTS

An identified source of the signal interference is determined according to an interference profile of a plurality of interference profiles associated with an interference profile library having information that approximates characteristics of the signal interference. The signal interference of the communication signal is mitigated according to an interference parameter associated with the identified source by filtering the communication signal according to the interference parameter.

A method of separating a desired signal from an undesired signal includes obtaining a total input signal comprising the desired signal and the undesired signal in a time domain occupying a time duration from time t.sub.1 to time t.sub.2 of a single symbol in the desired signal. A transform is performed of the total input signal wherein an output of the transform is a time domain signal representing the desired signal.

Method and system for communicating data over residential power lines

Using residential power lines communication (PLC) as the last hop of the CPRI-based front-haul to the indoor users, where unmodified time division multiplexed (TDM) CPRI hyper-frames are transported in between the outdoor distributed unit (DU) and the indoor radio unit (RU) transparently. To countermeasure the hostile environment of power lines, proposed is a novel device, called CPRI-PLC-Gateway (CPG), which serves as an agent for creating a virtual CPRI link between the DU and RU. The proposed CPG aims to meet the desired CPRI options in the presence of the noisy PLC channel while remaining completely transparent to the CPRI protocol operation.

A system that incorporates aspects of the subject disclosure may perform operations including, for example, identifying a selection of a SINR measurement target of a number of different SINR measurement targets. A SINR measurement of a second base station based on the SINR measurement target is obtained prior to a changing of an amplitude of a portion of a signal of a first base station. A determination is made as to whether the changing of the amplitude of the portion of the signal has reduced a second average SINR measurement of the second base station below a SINR threshold. In response to determining that the changing of the amplitude of the portion of the signal has reduced the second average SINR measurement of the second base station below the SINR threshold, the changing of the amplitude of the portion of the signal is reversed. Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting an interferer having a periodic time of recurrence and a periodic spectral frequency range, identifying a spectral segment of a plurality of spectral segments of a wideband radio system having a time of occurrence and an operating frequency range that overlaps with the periodic time of recurrence and the periodic spectral frequency range of the interferer, identifying a communication device utilizing the spectral segment for transmitting data in accordance with a segment schedule assigned to the communication device, and generating an updated segment schedule by modifying the segment schedule of the communication device to avoid utilizing an affected portion of the spectral segment during the periodic time of recurrence and the periodic spectral frequency range of the interferer. In one aspect, an apparatus includes: a fast Fourier transform (FFT) engine to receive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) samples of one or more OFDM symbols and convert the one or more OFDM samples into a plurality of frequency domain carriers; and a tone cancellation circuit coupled to the FFT engine to receive the one or more OFDM samples and generate a plurality of frequency carriers for the one or more OFDM samples, identify a highest magnitude frequency carrier of the plurality of frequency carriers, and remove tone interference from the OFDM samples based at least in part on the highest magnitude frequency carrier.
