APPLICATOR, APPLICATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USING AN APPLICATOR WITH A RADIOTHERAPY DEVICE
The present disclosure lies in the field of medical radiotherapy and relates to an applicator for a medical radiotherapy device, an applicator system for a medical radiotherapy device and a method for using an applicator or an applicator system. The applicator includes an applicator head and an applicator body. The applicator head and the applicator body are embodied such that the applicator head can be assembled on, and disassembled from, the applicator body, in each case without damage.
Wet preparation of radiotherapy sources
A method of accumulating radium radionuclides, comprising providing a first solution including thorium radionuclides and a thorium-binding extractant, wherein the first solution does not bind to radium, allowing a portion of the thorium radionuclides in the first solution to decay into radium atoms and collecting radium atoms resulting from the decay. The collected radium atoms may be included in a solution in which brachytherapy sources are dipped, in a manner which collects the radium atoms onto the source.
Intracavity balloon catheter
An intracavity balloon catheter may include a flexible catheter and a balloon provided on a distal end of the flexible catheter. The balloon may be inflatable with the introduction of fluid into the balloon from the flexible catheter. The balloon may be composed of a plurality of sections, including a center section and side sections. The inflated balloon may have shapes such as cylindrical, semi-cylindrical, or pillow shape. The intracavity balloon catheter may further include a securing device, such as a positioning ring, for securing the position of an inserted intracavity balloon catheter. This securing device may be composed of two, matable components with a passage extending through. The flexible catheter may be insertable into the passage. Tabs may be provided, either on one of the components or on a locking mechanism provided between the components, to prevent sliding of an inserted flexible catheter.
ORAL HYGIENE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
An oral hygiene device comprises a housing having an outside mouth portion and an inside mouth portion, at least one energy delivery element disposed in or on the inside mouth portion, configured to deliver energy to one or more teeth of a subject, a controller disposed in the outside mouth portion electrically connected to the at least one energy delivery element, an energy storage unit disposed in the outside mouth portion, and a sleeve removably connected to the inside mouth portion of the housing, the sleeve having upper and lower channels configured to accept the upper and lower teeth of the subject. A method of using an oral hygiene device and a method of administering an oral hygiene treatment are also described.
Modular Mouthpiece
A modular mouthpiece for soft tissue placement includes a base tray and soft tissue placement inserts. The soft tissue placement inserts are configured to be selectively coupled to the base tray.
Body insertable device having adjustable radiation emission direction
The present invention relates to a body insertable device having an outer body being bent; and an inner body positioned inside the outer body, having an accommodation space in which the resource soured is accommodated, and being capable of rotating inside the outer body, wherein a radiation emission direction is continuously adjusted by rotation of the inner body.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR SHAPING THE RADIATION DISTRIBUTION PROFILE OF A PROTECTED RADIATION SOURCE USED FOR TREATING MEDICAL CONDITIONS
A method and system may include a therapeutic agent having a radioactive source enclosed by a container. The container may be placed within a cavity of a medical device for treating animal tissue. The method and system allows a radioactive source to be manufactured in such a manner so as to control and spatially modulate the delivery of radiation doses to a treatment area of animal tissue, such as for tissue of humans. From the container, radiation doses and/or a radiation field are produced by the radiation source. The geometry and size of the radiation doses are controlled by the geometry of the container and the geometry of the radiation source as well as the type, number, and geometry of holes/slots in either the source material and/or a surface of the container.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR RADIOTHERAPY TREATMENT
The invention relies on a medical device for an intracorporeal location, wherein: it comprises a deformable armature, at least partially made of a shape memory material and having an Ea end and an Eb end, said Ea end being larger than said Eb end, it has an essentially triangular, trapezoidal, ovally or diamond-shaped, the sides of which extending between said Eb end and the corners of said Ea end, said deformable armature optionally includes a middle rip extending from said Ea end to said Eb end and multiple cross elements extending between the middle rip and said sides, wherein said sides are formed by sides braces, it comprises at least one x-ray visible marker fixed at the deformable armature selected from the group consisting of gold, silver, platinum, tantalum, tungsten, niobium, palladium, iridium, it comprises a guide suited for the intracorporeal introduction of said medical device, and an extraction holder of the medical device.
The invention also relies on a device for the introduction, by an endoscopic or percutaneous way, of the medical device, and on a method for accurately targeting a target area during radiation treatment through image guidance comprising determining the location of the medical device in real time using at least one method of targeting selected from the group consisting of lasers, visual, infrared, MRI/MRS, RF and radiation; and modifying the radiation treatment beam path to adaptively compensate for a change in position of the target area.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REPEATABLE ALIGNMENT OF BODILY TISSUE FOR PROGRAMME OF EXTERNAL RADIOTHERAPY TREATMENT
Provided herein is radiotherapy treatment system (100) for assisting treatment of a subject in an external radiotherapy programme comprising one or more external radiotherapy treatment sessions, the system (100) comprising a robotic arm, RA, (400, 400a) having a base end (422, 422a) and an effector end and a steering guide (300) having a proximal (40) and distal (20) end comprising a rigid effector shaft (310) at the distal end (20) configured for insertion into the canal (602) of the subject (50), or for attachment to an inserter (204) configured for insertion into the canal (602) of the subject (50), wherein the positioning tool (200) is configured to move and/or fix the canal (602) for the external radiotherapy treatment session responsive to movements of the robotic arm.
Anchored brachytherapy device
Aspects herein are directed to an anchorable brachytherapy device configured to be permanently implanted in a tumor bed at the time of operative removal of the tumor. In example aspects, the brachytherapy device may comprise a plurality of hollow tubes that form a spherical or ellipsoid shape. Protrusions or grooves may be formed on an outer surface of the tubes to help anchor the brachytherapy device in the tumor bed. Radioactive seeds or strands may be positioned within the tube channels to provide radiation to the tumor bed.
