SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RADIOTHERAPY TREATMENT PLANNING
Automatic radiation therapy treatment planning for generating a plan to be delivered from at least one beam angle, using a collimator having a variable collimator angle. Delivery times are determined for a number of possible collimator angles, and the optimization problem is defined to take the delivery times into account when selecting the collimator angles to be used when delivering the radiation.
METHODS FOR REAL-TIME IMAGE GUIDED RADIATION THERAPY
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for guiding the delivery of therapeutic radiation using incomplete or partial images acquired during a treatment session. A partial image does not have enough information to determine the location of a target region due to, for example, poor or low contrast and/or low SNR. The radiation fluence calculation methods described herein do not require knowledge or calculation of the target location, and yet may help to provide real-time image guided radiation therapy using arbitrarily low SNR images.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MULTIPLANAR RADIATION TREATMENT
A method for delivering radiation treatment may include defining a preliminary trajectory including a plurality of control points. Each control point may be associated with position parameters of a gantry and a couch. The method may also include generating a treatment plan based on the preliminary trajectory by optimizing an intensity and position parameters of a collimator and MLC leaves for each control point. The method may also include decomposing the treatment plan into a delivery trajectory including the plurality of control points. Each of the plurality of control points may be further associated with the optimized intensity, the optimized position parameters of the collimator and the MLC leaves, an output rate, and a motion parameter of each of the gantry, the couch, the collimator, and the MLC leaves. The method may further include instructing a radiation delivery device to deliver the treatment plan according to the delivery trajectory.
Systems and methods for generating radiation treatment plan
A method for generating a radiation treatment plan is provided. The method may include determining a set of one or more optimization goals for radiation delivery by a therapeutic radiation delivery apparatus. The method may also include determining a plan for radiation delivery from a radiation source of the therapeutic radiation delivery apparatus. The radiation source may be capable of continuously rotating around a subject. The plan may include a plurality of radiation segments. Each radiation segment may be characterized by at least one parameter selected from a start angle, a stop angle, a two-dimensional segment shape, or a segment MU value such that the plurality of radiation segments satisfy the set of one or more optimization goals by superimposing at least two radiation segments from at least two different rotations into a target volume of the subject.
System and method for correcting position errors of a multi-leaf collimator
Methods and systems for correcting position errors for a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) are provided. A method may include determining a first position for each of the plurality of leaves. The information associated with the first position may include a first movement direction and a first angle. A movement of the each of the plurality of leaves along the first movement direction may be configured to move toward or away from a center of the radiation field. The method may also include determining an offset value associated with the first position based on the first angle and the first movement direction; and determining a target position of the each of the plurality of leaves based on the offset value.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ADJUSTING MULTI-LEAF COLLIMATOR
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for adjusting a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) in a treatment process according to a treatment plan or a portion thereof. The MLC may include at least one closed leaf pair in the treatment process. The method may include: for each of the at least one closed leaf pair, determining an offset for the closed leaf pair; and causing the at least one closed leaf pair to move based on the determined at least one offset before or during the treatment process.
Portal imaging during radiotherapy
A radiotherapy apparatus comprises a source for producing a beam of ionising radiation along an axis, the beam covering a maximum aperture of the source, a collimator for collimating the beam to produce a collimated beam covering a sub-part of the maximum aperture, a patient support positioned in the path of the beam, a rotatable gantry, on which the source is mounted, for rotating the source around the patient support thereby to deliver the beam from a range of directions, an imaging device located opposite the source and with the patient support between the source and the imaging device, and mounted on the gantry via a drive member allowing translational motion of the imaging device in at least one direction perpendicular to the axis, and a control unit adapted to control the drive member to move the imaging device within the maximum aperture and maintain coincidence between the imaging device and the sub-part of the maximum aperture. Accordingly, the EPID can be moved during the treatment in order to maintain the collimated field of the radiation beam within the bounds of the EPID. This ensures that the image is valid and prevents damage to the EPID as a result of exposure of more sensitive (or less shielded) parts to the beam.
INCORPORATING MULTIPLE TARGETS IN TRAJECTORY OPTIMIZATION FOR RADIOTHERAPY TREATMENT PLANNING
Methods of treatment trajectory optimization for radiotherapy treatment of multiple targets include determining beam's eye view (BEV) regions and a BEV region connectivity manifold for each target group of a plurality of target groups separately. The information contained in the BEV regions and the BEV region connectivity manifolds for all target groups is used to guide an optimizer to find optimal treatment trajectories. To improve the visibility of insufficiently exposed voxels of planning target volumes (PTVs), a post-processing step may be performed to enlarge certain BEV regions, which are considered for exposing during treatment trajectory optimization.
BEAM ANGLE OPTIMIZATION FOR EXTERNAL BEAM RADIATION THERAPY USING SECTIONING
Methods of beam angle optimization for intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) treatment include determining beam's eye view (BEV) regions and a BEV region connectivity manifold by evaluating dose response of each region of interest for each vertex in a delivery coordinate space (DCS). The information contained in the BEV regions and the BEV region connectivity manifold is used to guide an optimizer to find optimal field geometries in the IMRT treatment. To improve the visibility of insufficiently exposed voxels of planning target volumes (PTVs), a post-processing step may be performed to enlarge certain BEV regions, which are considered for exposing during treatment trajectory optimization.

The basic fluence map includes a first non-zero fluence region and a second non-fluence region having the zero-fluence region therebetween. The radiation method includes a first radiating step including radiating the first non-zero fluence region, along with moving a first group of leaf pairs and moving a vertical jaw to shade the first group of leaf pairs, and a second radiating step including radiating the second non-zero fluence region, along with moving a second group of leaf pairs and withdrawing the vertical jaw to expose the second group of leaf pairs.
