CAR THEFT PREVENTION USING LONG RANGE WIDE AREA NETWORK
A method for monitoring a vehicle, the method may include detecting, by a vehicle monitor that is associated with a vehicle, a failure to communicate with a first communication network; storing failure information about a time of the failure and a location of the vehicle in proximity to a detection of the failure; attempting, after the detecting of the failure and by the vehicle monitor, to establish communication with at least one communication network out of the first communication network and a second communication network; wherein the second communication network is a long range wide area network (LoRaWAN) and the first communication network is not a LoRaWAN; and after succeeding to establish communication with a given communication network out of the first and second communication networks, transmitting the failure information over the given communication network.
Methods and systems for enabling end-user equipment at an end-user premise to effect communications when an ability of the end-user to communicate via a communication link connecting the end-user equipment to a communications network is disrupted
A method for effecting communications, such as telephone calls, accesses to data network sites, alarm system communications, and/or other communications, over a communications network. The method comprises: determining that an ability of first end-user equipment at a first end-user premise to communicate via a first communication link connecting the first end-user equipment to the communications network is disrupted; establishing a wireless communication link between the first end-user equipment and second end-user equipment at a second end-user premise; and causing information transmitted by or destined for the first end-user equipment to be exchanged over the communications network via the wireless communication link and a second communication link connecting the second end-user equipment to the communications network. Also provided are apparatus and computer-readable media containing a program element executable by a computing system to perform such a method.
Cross-modality electromagnetic signature analysis for radio frequency persona identification
Systems and methods can support identifying multiple radio transmitters as being integrated within a single communications device. Radio frequency signals may be collected using one or more sensors incorporating radio receivers. A first radio frequency signature and a second radio frequency signature may be identified within one or more of the radio frequency signals as originating respectively from a first radio transmitter and a second radio transmitter. Characteristics of the first and second radio frequency signatures may be analyzed to evaluate a relationship between the first and second radio frequency signatures. It may be determined whether or not the first and second radio transmitters are integrated within a common wireless electronic device based upon the evaluated relationship between the first radio frequency signature and the second radio frequency signature. Characteristics and behaviors associated with the wireless electronic device may be determined therefrom.
RF jamming mitigation system and method
A jamming detection system for a vehicle may include an antenna configured to receive a radio frequency (RF) wave defining a series of RF pulse and quiet phase durations. The system may include a processor programmed to lock the vehicle in response to one but not both of the durations exceeding a predetermined threshold. The processor may also be programmed to arm an alarm of the vehicle in response to both of the durations exceeding respective predetermined thresholds.
ONSTAR JAMMING DETECTION USING INTERNAL VEHICLE CELLULAR RECEIVED STRENGTH SIGNAL INDICATOR BASIS
A vehicle includes a system that performs a method for preventing a theft of the vehicle. The system includes a communication device and a processor. The communication device is configured to receive an observed signal within a selected radio frequency band. The processor is configured to measure a strength of the observed signal, measure a quality of the observed signal, calculate a correlation coefficient between the strength of the observed signal and the quality of the observed signal, attempt to establish a heartbeat signal via a cellular network when the correlation coefficient meets a selected coefficient threshold, determine the observed signal to be a jamming signal when the heartbeat signal is not established, and control the vehicle to execute a preventative action for preventing the theft of the vehicle when the observed signal is determined to be the jamming signal.
