A low-power scouting receiver is presented that provides an ability perform low-power scouting functions at a relatively low power. The low-power scouting functions determine context information for the receiver and enable fine-tuning of other receiver operations based on the context information. The low-power scouting functions include receiver control and switching, jammer detection, self-interference detection, or other context-dependent radio parameters.

SOUND MASKING IN OPEN-PLAN SPACES USING NATURAL SOUNDS

A system, method and program product for generating sound masking in an open-plan space. A method is disclosed that includes: establishing a set of acoustic criteria for the space that specifies minimum output levels at a set of specified frequencies; mixing sound samples to create an audio output stream for use as sound masking when broadcast over at least one speaker using a power amplifier; and processing the audio output stream, wherein the processing includes: analyzing the audio output stream with a spectrum analyzer to determine if the minimum output levels at the set of specified frequencies are met; and level adjusting the audio output stream with an equalizer to ensure that minimum output levels at the set of specified frequencies are met but do not exceed a given threshold above the minimum level.

Frequency waterfilling via implicit coordination

The system and method of utilizing frequency waterfilling and implicit coordination to mitigate signal jamming in Link 16 systems. The system and method of utilizing frequency waterfilling for Link 16 includes updates to both software and firmware. The frequency waterfilling approach for Link 16 modifies the process by which data bits are allocated to hops based on an assessment of hops affected by jamming, thus avoiding portions of the spectrum occupied by a jammer.

A system and method are for reducing the probability of detection of a Line of Sight type communication and sensor mast. The mast has an upper portion extending upwardly relatively the ground, and a lower portion closer to the ground than the upper portion. The mast at the upper portion is equipped with at least a communication or sensor element. The mast is equipped with an actuator that, based on calculated instructions, is designed to alter the elevation above ground of the mast upper portion so as to achieve an acceptable signal quality with the upper portion of the mast at the lowest possible elevation.

A system is provided that has an ECM (electronic counter measures) system and a transponder monitor connected to or forming part of the ECM system. The system monitors for a transponder signal from a remote transponder. The system determines information, such as transponder location, based on the transponder signal and makes use of the information in the ECM system and/or the system extracts encoded information contained in the transponder signal, such as information about a transponder owner, such as status of consumables, medical status. The ECM system may have a reactive jammer that is used both for a reactive jamming function, and as the transponder monitor function.

An apparatus, configured to communicate with other apparatuses in a wireless network and operating in a frequency-division duplexing mode, can be caused to refrain from transmitting during a number of subframes of a frame of a downlink frequency band prior to a detection of a radar transmission, can be caused to send a first signal, related to monitoring for the radar transmission, to a second apparatus, and can be caused to change the number of the subframes of the frame of the downlink frequency band in response to an event that can be an increase or a decrease in a load of the apparatus or the detection of the radar transmission. Optionally, placement of the subframes within the frame of the downlink frequency band can correspond to placement of subframes that are designated for an uplink communication within a frame configured in accordance with the Long-Term Evolution Time-Division Duplex standard.

Endpoint device antenna beam forming based jamming detection and mitigation

A method, computer-readable storage device and apparatus for locating a source of a communication impairment are disclosed. For example, the method detects the communication impairment, performs a sweep to locate a direction of the source of the communication impairment, wherein the sweep is performed in response to the detecting the communication impairment at the endpoint device, and generates a null in the direction of the source of the communication impairment.
