Efficient inroute (return channel) load balancing scheme of guaranteed QoS traffic mixed with best effort traffic in an oversubscribed satellite network

A method for balancing inroute traffic load that contains both guaranteed QoS and best effort traffic. Hierarchical grouping levels are defined with the lowest level corresponding to inroutes within the system. Certain levels have common symbol rates, modulation rates, or both. When a new terminal requires admission, it is assigned to entries in the different hierarchical levels so that the inroute traffic load across all levels are balanced. Terminals are admitted to inroutes based, in part, on their channel quality indicator. Inroute traffic load can periodically rebalance based on elapsed time or terminal redistribution.

The vehicle communications device receives communications at the vehicle-communications device from the vehicle's OBD system through the connector. A bit stream of the received communications is analyzed over an interval of time. The widths of one or more bit pulses are estimated based on the analyzing of the bit stream. A bit rate of the OBD system is determined based on the estimated widths of the one or more bit pulses. Based on the determined bit rate of the OBD system, bidirectional communications are established between the OBD system and the tool device using the established network communications link between the vehicle-communications device and the remote communications device.

DATA FORWARDING METHOD AND APPARATUS IN BLUETOOTH MESH NETWORK

A data forwarding method and apparatus in a Bluetooth Mesh network are disclosed. According to the present disclosure, on the basis of not changing the original Bluetooth protocol, switching is performed to transmit the forwarded data at different transmission rates multiple times. The transmission distance difference between different transmission rates is used to achieve regional flood forwarding, thereby reducing a large number of flooding of device nodes in the network and avoiding network congestion, and improving the performance of the entire Bluetooth Mesh network.

NETWORK OPTIMIZATION FOR MITIGATION OF CROSSTALK BETWEEN NETWORK LINKS

A network controller receives link metrics for network links on cables between network devices in a communication network. The link metrics include metrics indicative of crosstalk experienced by network links among the network links on cables. The network controller determines, based at least in part on the link metrics, respective link settings for respective network links among the network links. The link settings are determined to mitigate crosstalk experienced by the respective network links as a result of transmission of signals in at least some of the network links at baud rates that correspond to bandwidths that exceed maximum bandwidth ratings of respective cables of the corresponding ones of the network links. The network controller causes configuration of the respective network links based on the link settings to optimize performance across the plurality of network links in the communication network.
