INITIAL AND PERIODIC SLOWDOWNS FOR BACKGROUND CONNECTIONS

The technologies disclosed herein provide improvements to the Low Extra Delay Background Transport (LEDBAT) protocol. In some scenarios, a LEDBAT connection cannot obtain accurate measurements for the base delay that it relies on. Slowing down a connection, initially and periodically, can ensure that base delay measurements begin accurately and remain accurate throughout the life of a connection. Data is communicated between two computers in a slow start mode, where a rate of the communication is increased over time from an initial rate. When one or more conditions are met, e.g., an interval lapses, the communication is slowed for a predetermined time period. The communication of the data then resumes in a slow start mode, where a rate of the communication is increased over time from an initial rate.

ADAPTIVE GAIN REDUCTION FOR BACKGROUND CONNECTIONS

The technologies disclosed herein provide improvements to the Low Extra Delay Background Transport (LEDBAT) protocol. Some aspects of the present disclosure introduce an adaptive congestion window gain for background connections. In some configurations, a gain value for influencing the transmission rate of a background connection is dynamically adjusted based on data indicating a round trip time (RTT). The RTT includes a sum of a time in which the data is communicated to a remote device and a time in which acknowledgement is data returned from the remote device. In some configurations, the gain is decreased when the RTT is below a threshold and the gain is increased when the RTT is above the threshold. Among other features, the present disclosure also provides techniques involving a modified slow-start, multiplicative decrease and periodic slowdowns. The features disclosed herein mitigate some existing issues, such as latency drift, inter-LEDBAT fairness, and unnecessary slowdowns.

Method and arrangement for pilot pattern based control signaling in MIMO systems

A radio base station, user equipment (UE), and method of control signaling in wireless communication systems. Control information is transferred from a base station to at least one UE, via a plurality of common pilot channels. A set of unique pilot sequences is predefined, and the base station assigns specific pilot sequences from the set of pilot sequences to specific common pilot channels, forming a pilot sequence assignment pattern representing specific control information. The UE, having knowledge of the relations between pilot sequence assignment patterns and control information, interprets the received pilot sequence assignment pattern as specific control information. The method is particularly well suited for broadcast type control information.

A terrestrial high frequency data communication system and method for implementing a pointing algorithm for endpoint nodes are described. The system includes an aggregation node and one or more endpoint nodes. In one example, a pointing direction for an endpoint node is determined based on a number of packet error rate (PER) measurements associated with a high frequency data communication link between the endpoint node and an aggregation node. Preferably, the endpoint node includes a steerable antenna module that includes one or more antennas. The steerable antenna module is configured to receive an azimuth value and an elevation value determined based on PER measurements associated with the high frequency data communication link, and to steer its one or more antennas based on the azimuth value and the elevation value to point to the aggregation node.

A method of link adaptation is described including establishing, using a first serving point, a multi-user full duplex mode wherein the multi-user full duplex mode enables a downlink to a first wireless device and an uplink from a second wireless device. The first serving point requests from the first wireless device a first channel quality indicator indicating channel quality between the serving point and the first wireless device in a full duplex time period and a second channel quality indicator indicating channel quality between the serving point and the first wireless device in non-full duplex time period. The full duplex mode is evaluated using the first and second channel quality indicators. At least one parameter of the full duplex mode is adjusted based on the evaluating.
