Robust inter-radio access technology operations in unlicensed spectrum
09801115 · 2017-10-24 · ·

Systems and methods are disclosed for mitigating interference between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) sharing operating spectrum in an unlicensed band of radio frequencies. The mitigation may comprise, for example, identifying an upcoming signal transmission associated with a first RAT, with the signal transmission being scheduled for transmission on the shared operating spectrum during a transmission period. The signal transmission may be classified with respect to a protection status. Based on the protection status, a channel reservation message may be transmitted that is associated with a second RAT to reserve at least a portion of the shared operating spectrum for at least a portion of the transmission period.

Remote control methods and systems

The transceiver provides a two-way communication with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) via a first communication link and is configured to receive feedback data and a feedback data indication from the UAV and transmit control data to the UAV. The receiver is configured to receive the control data and a control data indication from a controlling terminal via a second communication link. The second communication link does not interfere with the first communication link. The processor is configured to determine whether the feedback data and the control data are being simultaneously transmitted via the first communication link based on the feedback data indication and the control data indication.

An Access Point (AP) may measure a full-band channel quality information (CQI) for a plurality of wireless stations associated with the AP and allocate a sub-band resource unit from the plurality of sub-band resource units to a wireless station based on the full-band CQI. Aspects of the disclosure also include techniques for adjusting a data rate associated with the wireless station based on a channel power of the sub-band resource unit.

ABR control

There is provided a method for adaptive bitrate (ABR) adjustments in an IP network before making upshift of ABR level of media streams like video for live Over the Top (OTT) distribution. Example methods may include initiating, at a first time interval, probing of the IP network to determine if a first candidate bitrate is applicable, where the first candidate bitrate is greater than a preset bitrate of a client device data stream, determining that the candidate bitrate is applicable, increasing a transfer bitrate of the client device data stream, and initiating, at a second time interval, probing of the IP network to determine if a second candidate bitrate is applicable, where the second candidate bitrate is greater than the first candidate bitrate.

Low overhead control channel for wireless audio systems

A wireless audio system using low overhead in-band control and audio transmission is provided. The wireless audio system includes a first wireless audio device configured to operate separate physical layer channels for audio data and control data, and transmit the audio data and control data using a single wideband carrier. The wireless audio system also includes one or more second wireless audio devices configured to receive the audio data and control data, and execute an instruction based on the control data.

Reliable link quality estimation in multi-rate networks

Techniques are directed to using communication metric data associated with multiple modulation schemes to achieve a link quality metric that is representative of the link as a whole, across the multiple modulation schemes that may be employed on the link. A calculation of a link quality metric may be triggered by a network layer transmission attempt, with communication metrics accumulated at the link layer of the link. A filter used to calculate the link quality metric may be updated based on network layer transmission attempts, based on successful and/or unsuccessful transmissions at a Media Access Control (MAC) layer of the link. More generally, a calculation of link quality may be triggered by a higher layer transmission attempt while being calculated based on transmission attempts at a lower layer of the link.
