A method for calibrating a communication channel coupling first and second components includes transmitting a data signal from the first component to the second component on the communication channel, and sensing a characteristic, such as phase, of the data signal on the second component. Information about the sensed characteristic is fed back to the first component using an auxiliary channel. An adjustable parameter, such as phase, for the transmitter is adjusted on the first component in response to the information. Also, a characteristic of a data signal received from the transmitter on the second component is sensed and used to adjust an adjustable parameter for the receiver on the first component.

Method and system for time division duplex communication in wireless networks

A method of simultaneous bidirectional transmissions, the method comprising determining, by a network element, first transmission time slots for downlink and uplink transmissions for a first plurality of user equipment (UEs); assigning a DL transmission to a first shared time slot of the first transmission time slots for a first UE in the first plurality of UEs; and assigning an UL transmission to the first shared time slot for a second UE in the first plurality of UEs, wherein the first and second UEs form a virtual UE to communicate in virtual full duplex in at least the first shared time slot.

Dynamic TDD uplink/downlink configuration using DCI

The invention relates to a method for dynamically indicating a TDD re-configuration to the mobile station by encoding the dynamic TDD re-configuration indication into the DCI or CRC calculated for the DCI. In one embodiment, the TDD configuration indication is implicitly encoded as an RNTI into the CRC, when scrambling the CRC for the DCI with a TDD-RNTI. In another embodiment, the TDD configuration indication is part of the DCI payload, while the CRC for the DCI is scrambled with a cell identifier, identifying the target cell for which the dynamic TDD re-configuration is to be applied. In still another embodiment, the TDD configuration indication is part of the DCI payload, where the DCI payload further includes an invalid parameter indicating to the mobile station that the DCI carries the TDD configuration indication.

Duplex operation in a cellular communication system

A cellular communication system comprises a first base station serving at least a first user equipment. The base station comprises functionality for transmitting a base station duplex capability message to user equipments using a transmission format which is common to a plurality of duplex modes. A first user equipment comprises a transceiver which receives the base station duplex capability message. A RACH characteristics processor determines at least one transmit characteristic for an access message in response to the base station duplex capability message and a RACH transmit controller controls the transmission of an access message to the first base station in response to the at least one transmit characteristic.

Over-the-air signaling for coordination of time-division duplexing

Coordination information for controlling base-station-to-base-station interference is transmitted from one radio network node (900) (e.g., an LTE eNodeB) to another, using certain parts of the TDD subframe. One example method, as might be implemented in a radio network node (900) such as an LTE eNodeB, includes the generating (1010) of a TDD coordination signal and the transmitting (1020) of the TDD coordination signal to one or more other radio network nodes. In some embodiments, the coordination signal is transmitted in a guard period of a special subframe at the target node. In others, the coordination signal is transmitted in another interval during which the receiving node is not transmitting, such as in uplink subframe for the receiving node, an uplink portion of a special subframe at the receiving node, or in a downlink subframe or downlink portion of a special subframe during which the receiving node is not transmitting.
