METHODS FOR RADIATION DELIVERY QUALITY ASSURANCE
Described herein are methods and systems for generating a MV detector image for evaluating the quality of radiation delivery according to a radiotherapy treatment plan. The MV detector image is generated from MV detector measurements of a small number of multi-leaf collimator (MLC) leaf openings.
CBCT and X-ray combined setup with X-ray verification of patient positioning

System and method for dose verification and gamma ray imaging in ion beam therapy
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus related to ion beam therapy. In one aspect, a system includes a position sensitive detector and a collimator. The position sensitive detector configured to detect gamma rays generated by an ion beam interacting with a target. The collimator is positioned between the target and the position sensitive detector. The collimator includes a plurality of knife-edge slits, with a first knife-edge slit intersecting with a second knife-edge slit.
Techniques for particle beam therapy
A method for beam therapy is provided. The method includes receiving first data indicating a plurality of target volumes within a target region inside a subject for particle beam therapy relative to a particle beam outlet on a gantry for directing a particle beam from a particle beam source. The method further includes moving automatically, one or more energy modulator components to reduce an energy of the particle beam and deliver the particle beam to the target region such that a Bragg Peak is delivered to at least one target volume of the plurality of target volumes. The method further includes repeating the moving automatically as the particle beam source rotates with the gantry around the subject, without changing the energy of the particle beam at the particle beam outlet, until every target volume is subjected to a Bragg Peak.
Method for estimating radiation exposure of a patient and radiation exposure monitoring system thereof
A method for estimating radiation exposure of a patient arising from at least one medical image study of that patient is described. The method comprises obtaining radiation exposure information relating to a plurality of procedures for which there exists a potential exposure of the patient to radiation, performing anatomical alignment of the obtained radiation exposure information to at least one reference image, estimating a radiation dose per procedure, and calculating an aggregated radiation dose based at least partly on the estimated radiation doses.
DOSE-BASED OPTIMIZATION FOR MULTI-LEAF COLLIMATOR ("MLC") TRACKING DURING RADIATION THERAPY METHODS AND APPARATUS
Methods, apparatuses and systems are disclosed for dose-based optimization related to multi-leaf collimator (“MLC”) tracking during radiation therapy. In an example, a method includes calculating a planned radiation dose using an MLC plan in an unshifted dose volume, acquiring, using a radiation machine, a target position through motion tracking, and shifting the dose volume by the target position. The method also includes integrating a three-dimensional dose into a two-dimensional beam’s eye view grid and fitting, using the radiation machine for each leaf track, an MLC aperture by minimizing a cost function. The method further includes calculating and accumulating a delivered dose based on the fitted leaf positions of the MLC and updating a gantry position and MLC leaves to update a next planned dose.
Particle therapy device and method for setting dose calibration factor
An irradiation apparatus radiates a particle beam after forming the beam for plural layers. A dose monitor measures a dose in real time. A dose evaluation unit evaluates an irradiation dose for each layer on the basis of a value measured by the dose monitor and a dose calibration factor set for each layer. An irradiation control section performs radiation control for each layer on the basis of an evaluation result of the dose evaluation unit. An interpolation value generation unit uses actual-measurement dose-calibration factors obtained by radiating a particle beam to a simulated phantom provided with a calibration dosimeter, to generate an interpolation estimation value of the dose calibration factor. For each layer subject to the interpolation value, and based on an irradiation condition of that layer, the interpolation value generation unit performs weighting on each of the actual-measurement dose-calibration factors.
System and method for adaptive radiation therapy
The disclosure relates to a system and method for adapt a treatment plan. The method may include: obtaining an initial treatment plan of a region of interest, wherein the initial treatment plan includes a first initial treatment fraction and a second initial treatment fraction; causing a radiation treatment device to deliver the first initial treatment fraction; obtaining a treatment record related to the first initial treatment fraction; and generating an updated second treatment fraction based on the second initial treatment fraction and the treatment record.
Skin patch dosimeter
A skin patch sensor having a groove therein to receive a sensor without leaving any air pockets is described. The skin patch sensor also has a water or tissue equivalent material and/or, in some embodiments, a moldable water equivalent material.
Dose aspects of radiation therapy planning and treatment
Radiation treatment planning includes accessing values of parameters such as a number of beams to be directed into sub-volumes in a target, beam directions, and beam energies. Information that specifies limits for the radiation treatment plan are accessed. The limits include a limit on irradiation time for each sub-volume outside the target. Other limits can include a limit on irradiation time for each sub-volume in the target, a limit on dose rate for each sub-volume in the target, and a limit on dose rate for each sub-volume outside the target. The values of the parameters are adjusted until the irradiation time for each sub-volume outside the target satisfies the maximum limit on irradiation time.
