ARTICLES TO MANIPULATE THE TEMPERATURE OF BODY EXTREMITIES

Temperature of the extremities is a significant factor in temperature control of the body due to the presence of thermal receptors in the extremities. The brain uses signals from these thermal receptors as an indication of environmental conditions, and responds accordingly. Thermal monitoring of extremities and adjustment of extremity temperature are valuable in controlling body temperature, leading to a more optimum body temperature in an array of environmental conditions. Devices, such as a wearable article, and an apparatus to monitor the temperature of extremities, adjust the temperature of the extremities in response to the monitored temperature.

A portable footwear air conditioning system allows a person to cool or warm their feet or another portion of their body. The system is removable can be transferred from one article of clothing to another. An air conditioning device forces air warmed or cooled, through a tube into a shoe. The air conditioning device utilizes a heat exchanger, fan or the like to alter the temperature of the air.

Flow insole

An insole which generates an air flow during use, which assists in cooling or warming the foot of a user is disclosed. In a first embodiment, air flow facilitated by said insole provides for convective heat transfer away from the plantar surface of the foot. The insole is intended for insertion into a shoe which is ventilated, preferably an athletic shoe with a ventilated upper. The bottom layer defines a plurality of ridges and channel lining portions which together define a plurality of air channels. The bottom layer defines a heel recess in which a heel pad is situated. In a second embodiment, an insole which collects, retains, and heats a user's foot is disclosed. Said insole further comprises a middle layer of thermal reflective material secured to and coextensive with a top layer and a bottom layer secured to said middle layer.

Ventilation apparatus for footwear

A ventilation apparatus including at least one flexible energy storage device (FESD), a switching unit, a pump, and a fluid diffuser is provided. The FESD flexibly conforms to varying contours of footwear. The FESD positioned at one or more locations of the footwear supplies electrical energy to the pump via the switching unit. The switching unit in communication with the FESD and the pump selectively changes modes of operation of the pump. The pump attached to the footwear pumps fluid into and exhausts fluid from a cavity of the footwear. A feed pipe of the fluid diffuser connected to the pump, within the cavity of the footwear, transfers the fluid pumped from the pump to the cavity of the footwear during a pump mode and transfers the fluid in the cavity of the footwear to an ambient environment external to the footwear during an exhaust mode for ventilating the footwear.

Intelligent fabric, intelligent shoe and intelligent garment

An intelligent fabric includes: a base layer provided with vent holes and a thermal insulation layer arranged on the base layer and moved relative to the base layer; a temperature sensor configured to detect temperature information; and a controller connected to the temperature sensor and the thermal insulation layer, and configured to control the thermal insulation layer to be moved relative to the base layer in accordance with the temperature information detected by the temperature sensor, to switch the thermal insulation layer between a state where the thermal insulation layer covers the vent holes completely and a state where the thermal insulation layer does not cover the vent holes, or among the above two states and a state where the thermal insulation layer covers a portion of the vent holes.
