The transmitting device may encode the second portion by a configuration of a first subset of resource elements. The transmitting device may transmit, via the data transmission, first signals representative of the first portion over the first subset and one or more second signals over a second subset of resource elements. A receiving device may receive the data transmission and may identify that the one or more second signals include content other than data of the data transmission. The receiving device may decode the first signals in order to identify the first portion and the configuration in order to identify the second portion. The receiving device may refrain from decoding the one or more second signals based on the identifying.

The method also includes coupling, using a power coupling device, electric power in the form of a high-frequency signal into the bus line, transmitting the communication signal and the electric power as a bus signal to an electrical load using the bus line, and decoupling the communication signal from the bus line via a low-pass filter that filters the bus signal, such that signal frequencies below the cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter are decoupled from the bus line of the bus system.

The present disclosure provides an uplink multiple access scheme and technique to enhance the overall spectral efficiency of wireless systems. The scheme and technique exploits an index modulation concept in orthogonal multiple access systems. A first subblock of transmitted data for a user is conventionally modulated, while a second subblock of the data determines the index of the active channel that will be used to communicate the modulated symbol. The scheme and technique enables all available orthogonal resources to be used for an arbitrary number of users as an extra source of information that is used to enhance the overall spectral efficiency in terms of error efficiency and energy efficiency.

Methods and systems consistent with this invention receive a plurality of transmitted signals in a receiver having a plurality of receive elements, wherein each transmitted signal has a different spatial location. Such methods and systems receive the plurality of transmitted signals at the plurality of receive elements to form a plurality of receive element signals, form a combined signal derived from the plurality of receive element signals, and detect each of the plurality of transmitted signals from the combined signal by its different spatial location. To achieve this, methods and systems consistent with this invention generate a plurality of arbitrary phase modulation signals, and phase modulate each of the plurality of receive element signals with a different one of the phase modulation signals to form a plurality of phase modulated signals. Such methods and systems then combine the plurality of phase modulated signals into a combined signal, generate expected signals, and cross-correlate the combined signal with the expected signals to form correlation signals. Such methods and systems then store the correlation signals in a correlation signal memory and analyze the correlation signals to extract information from the transmitted signals.
