Multi-pass computed tomography scans for improved workflow and performance
11638568 · 2023-05-02 · ·

An x-ray imaging apparatus and associated methods are provided to execute multi-pass imaging scans for improved quality and workflow. An imaging scan can be segmented into multiple passes that are faster than the full imaging scan. Data received by an initial scan pass can be utilized early in the workflow and of sufficient quality for treatment setup, including while the another scan pass is executed to generate data needed for higher quality images, which may be needed for treatment planning. In one embodiment, a data acquisition and reconstruction technique is used when the detector is offset in the channel and/or axial direction for a large FOV during multiple passes.

The present disclosure provides a neutron capture therapy system, including an accelerator for generating a charged particle beam, a neutron generator for generating a neutron beam having neutrons after irradiation by the charged particle beam, and a beam shaping assembly for shaping the neutron beam. The beam shaping assembly includes a moderator and a reflecting assembly surrounding the moderator. The neutron generator generates the neutrons after irradiation by the charged particle beam. The moderator moderates the neutrons generated by the neutron generator to a preset energy spectrum. The reflecting assembly includes a reflecting assembly to deflected neutrons back to the neutron beam and a supporting member to support the reflectors. A lead-antimony alloy is for the reflecting assembly to mitigate a creep effect that occurs when only a lead material is for the reflectors, thereby improving the structural strength of a beam shaping assembly.

Static device for use in radiotherapy treatment and design method for such a device

A compensating device for use in ion-based radiotherapy may comprise a disk with a number of protrusions may be placed in a radiation beam to affect the ions in the beam in different ways to create an irradiation field from a broad beam. This is particularly useful in FLASH therapy because of the limited time available or modulating the beam. A method of designing such a compensating device is proposed, comprising the steps of obtaining characteristics of an actual treatment plan comprising at least one beam, determining at least one parameter characteristic of the desired energy modulation of the actual plan by performing a dose calculation of the initial plan and, based on the at least one parameter, computing a shape for each of the plurality of elongated elements to modulate the dose of the delivery beam to mimic the dose of the initial plan per beam.

The present disclosure provides a neutron capture therapy system, including a neutron generator to generate neutrons after irradiation by charged particles, and a beam shaping assembly includes a moderator and a reflector surrounding the moderator. A vacuum tube connected to the accelerator is provided at an accommodating portion. The vacuum tube transmits the charged particles accelerated by the accelerator to the neutron generator to generate neutrons. The neutron generator moves between a first position and a second position, at the first position, the neutron generator react with the charged particle beam to generate neutrons, at the second position, the neutron generator falls off the beam shaping assembly. The vacuum tube is detached to make the neutron generator fall off the beam shaping assembly, to reduce direct contact of a worker with the neutron generator after nuclear reactions, thereby reducing radioactive hazards for workers.

Revolving radiation collimator

Devices, systems and method that allow for delivery of therapeutic radiation beams of differing sizes or shapes during a radiation treatment are provided herein. Such devices can include a rotatable collimator body having multiple collimator channels of differing size or shape defined therein, the channels extending through the collimator body substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The collimator body can include markers thereon to facilitate detection of an alignment position by a sensor of a control system to allow the collimator body to be rapidly and accurately moved between alignment positions to facilitate delivery of differing therapy beams during a treatment.

Assigning ripple filter settings to a plurality of sub-beams

It is provided a method for determining ripple filter settings for an ion therapy beam being capable of providing ions of different energy levels to a target volume. The method is performed in a treatment planning system and comprises the steps of: determining at least one beam direction to use to cover a target volume; and assigning a ripple filter setting to each one of a plurality of sub-beams of each one of the at least one beam direction such that each sub-beam is assigned a different ripple filter setting, wherein each ripple filter setting results in a different effect on a Bragg-peak width in a direction along the ion therapy beam, and each energy level is assigned to one of the plurality of sub-beams. The step of assigning a ripple filter setting comprises optimising based on different filter settings for different sub-beams for each beam direction.
