SPLIT-BRAIN PREVENTION IN A HIGH AVAILABILITY SYSTEM DURING WORKLOAD MIGRATION SYSTEM DURING WORKLOAD MIGRATION

In some embodiments, a method configures, at a first host, an overlay channel for sending packets to check whether a failure has occurred at a workload. The first host and a second host are connected via a layer 3 network. The first host generates a packet to check whether the failure has occurred at the workload and encapsulates the packet. The first host sends the encapsulated packet to the second host using the overlay channel via the layer 3 network. The packet is decapsulated and forwarded to the workload at the second host.

Router and method for operating a communication system having redundant routers

Within a communication system having redundant routers, datagrams are forwarded from source communication devices to target communication devices via routers based on routing information stored in routing tables of the routers, wherein for each communication terminal, a virtual router is configured as a default gateway, to which virtual router a group of a plurality of routers is assigned, where routers from the same group assigned to a virtual router select from among themselves a router operated as the active default gateway, the routers not operated as the active default gateway are operated as reserve gateways, and where the active default gateway in question transmits, only upon a request for stored address assignments that is received from a reserve gateway, all stored address assignments to a requesting reserve gateway in bundled form.

Apparatus, system, and method for mapping incremental changes across hierarchical and non-hierarchical forwarding information bases

A disclosed method may include (1) identifying a route installed in a Forwarding Information Base (FIB) of a network device included in a network, (2) identifying a plurality of active paths that lead from the network device to a destination device of the route installed in the FIB, (3) determining a load distribution of the plurality of active paths by calculating a plurality of traffic loads that represent amounts of traffic that traverse from the network device to the destination device via the plurality of active paths, and (4) making a trafficking decision in connection with the plurality of active paths based at least in part on the load distribution of the plurality of active paths. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Disclosed are methods, systems, apparatus, and computer programs for data transmission in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network. In one aspect, a method includes generating a routing table for the IAB network; determining to forward a data packet from a source IAB node to a destination IAB node; and forwarding, based on the generated routing table, the data packet from the source IAB node to the destination IAB node.

A destination node device starts a timer when the destination node device determines that a network topology changes; before the timer expires, the destination node device forwards the BIER packet by using an old forwarding table and establishes a new forwarding table, where the old forwarding table is a forwarding table used by the destination node device before the network topology changes, the new forwarding table is a forwarding table established by the destination node device based on the changed network topology; and after the timer expires, the destination node device switches the old forwarding table to the new forwarding table, and forwards the BIER packet according to the new forwarding table.
