An information processing device functions as a slave device connected to a master device via a communication network including a daisy chain connection. The information processing device includes: a communication part which performs communication processing using the communication network; a storage control part which performs control to store in a storage part communication state information indicating a communication state in the communication network detected in the communication part; a determination part which, with reference to the communication state information stored in the storage part, determines whether a communication load of a predetermined value or more is present in the communication network; and an output control part which, if the determination part determines that the communication load is present, performs control to output a result of the determination.

INTEGRATED TRAFFIC PROFILE FOR INDICATING CONGESTION AND PACKET DROP FOR CONGESTION AVOIDANCE

A system for facilitating an integrated traffic profile for indicating congestion and packet drop is provided. During operation, the system can determine a first traffic profile indicating whether to drop a packet based on the utilization of a queue. The packets from the queue can be forwarded via an egress port reachable via a fabric. The system can also determine a second traffic profile indicating whether to indicate congestion in the packet based on the utilization. The system can then determine a third traffic profile by combining the first and second traffic profiles. The third traffic profile can indicate acceptance at the queue for a subset of packets being selected for dropping based on the utilization. Subsequently, the system can, if the packet is selected for dropping, determine whether to accept the packet at the queue and set a congestion indicator in the packet based on the third traffic profile.

System and method for dynamically adapting network delivery modes of content

A content distribution network includes a first server in communication with an anycast server that provides content via a unicast signal, and with a multicast server that provides the content via a multicast signal. The first server is configured to receive a list of source addresses associated with the content, and to provide a metadata file including an anycast Internet protocol address of the anycast server from the list of source addresses as an Internet protocol address of the content in response to a first request for the content. When the number of client devices requesting the content exceeds a first threshold, the first server receives an updated list of sources including a multicast Internet protocol address of a multicast server, and provides the multicast Internet protocol address of the multicast server as the Internet protocol address of the content in the metadata file.

Method and system for effective use of internal and external memory for packet buffering within a network device

A mechanism is provided to maximize utilization of internal memory for packet queuing in network devices, while providing an effective use of both internal and external memory to achieve high performance, high buffering scalability, and minimizing power utilization. Embodiments initially store packet data received by the network device in queues supported by an internal memory. If internal memory utilization crosses a predetermined threshold, a background task performs memory reclamation by determining those queued packets that should be targeted for transfer to an external memory. Those selected queued packets are transferred to external memory and the internal memory is freed. Once the internal memory consumption drops below a threshold, the reclamation task stops.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PACING DATA FLOWS

A method includes examining a first data packet transmitted to a first network equipment from a second network equipment. A data flow type of the first data packet is determined. If the data flow type is determined to be the first type of data flow, determining a delivery throughput of the first data packet to the first network equipment over a data flow path. The determined delivery performance of the first data packet is compared to an expected peak data throughput capacity for a data packet transmitted to the first network equipment from the second network equipment. Transmission of data packets to the first network equipment is paced if the comparison of the determined delivery performance and the expected peak data throughput capacity indicates a congestion exists over the data flow path.
