METHOD AND APPRATUS FOR RELOCATING PACKET PROCESSING FUNCTIONS

The invention relates to a method for enabling relocation of a function for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device. The method is performed in an arrangement of a communication system, which is allocated as a proxy for control messages exchanged between an instance of the function for processing the data packets of the flow and a control instance controlling how the function processes the data packets of the flow. The method comprises obtaining (920) information indicating that the function for processing the data packets is relocated from a first instance to a second instance. The method further comprises forwarding (930) control messages received from the control instance to the second instance of the function for processing the data packets and vice versa, in response to the obtained information.

Targeted rate limiting of tenant systems in online services
11265250 · 2022-03-01 · ·

This disclosure involves applying rate limits to violating tenant computing devices causing resource consumption violations at system components identified via violation evaluation processes. A system identifies a resource consumption violation with respect to a computing system hosting an online service. The system retrieves log data identifying tenant systems that accessed the memory resource during a particular time period in which the resource consumption violation impacted performance of the online service. The system determines, from the log data, that a violator tenant system accessing the online service caused the resource consumption violation. The system enforces a rate limit against the violator tenant system rather than other tenant systems identified in the log data.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FACILITATING DATA-DRIVEN INTELLIGENT NETWORK WITH INGRESS PORT INJECTION LIMITS

Data-driven intelligent networking systems and methods are provided. The system can accommodate dynamic traffic while applying injection limits to different traffic classes at an ingress edge port. The system can maintain state information of individual packet flows, which can be set up or released dynamically based on injected data. Each flow can be provided with a flow-specific input queue upon arriving at a switch. Packets of a respective flow can be acknowledged after reaching the egress point of the network, and the acknowledgement packets can be sent back to the ingress point of the flow along the same data path. Furthermore, an edge switch can dynamically allocate the ingress port bandwidth among the traffic classes that are active at a given moment.

MULTI-MODE REMOTE COLLABORATION

Generally discussed herein are systems and apparatuses for multi-mode collaboration between entities in different jurisdictions. According to an example a technique can include determining a location of a remote communication device by at least one of a global positioning system (GPS), low frequency (LF) atomic time radio, earth magnetic signature, internet protocol (IP) address, and cell phone tower triangulation, determine regulations regarding communication from an internal network to the remote device based on the determined location, and configure the remote device to transmit and receive communications in a manner compliant with the determined regulations including one of voice over internet protocol (VOIP) communication, hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) communication, text communication, voice communication, video communication, and augmented reality communication.

INSTANT NOTIFICATION OF LOAD BALANCE AND RESOURCE SCHEDULING BASED ON RESOURCE CAPACITIES AND EVENT RECOGNITION

Systems, computer-implemented methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating resource balancing based on resource capacities and resource assignments are disclosed. Electronic communications, received via interfaces, from monitoring devices to identify resource descriptions of resources may be monitored. A resource descriptions data store may be updated to associate each entity of the entities and resource capacities of each resource type of resource types. A first electronic communication, from resource-controlling systems, may be detected. Model data from a model data store may be accessed based on the identified resource descriptions. A first model may be identified based on the model data. A resources assessment corresponding may be generated based on whether a threshold is satisfied based on the first model, a first resource capacity of a first resource type, and the first electronic communication. An electronic notification may be transmitted to the client devices to identify the resources assessment.

A method of communication in a cloudified network, an apparatus, and a system, where the method includes receiving, by a software-defined networking (SDN) controller, a communication path request message from a policy management apparatus, allocating, by the SDN controller from a network resource managed by the SDN controller, a communication path meeting a bandwidth requirement and a quality of service (QoS) requirement to both the communications nodes according to the address information of the different communications nodes, and the bandwidth requirement information and the QoS requirement information of the communication path between the different communications nodes, and sending, by the SDN controller, a message carrying the communication path to a bearer network forwarding device.

PROACTIVE UPSTREAM SCHEDULING FOR FLOWS IN A POINT-TO-MULTIPOINT COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes predicting a user average data rate for a cable modem; establishing a minimum bandwidth grant size and a maximum bandwidth grant size for the cable modem based on the predicted user average data rate; receiving from the cable modem a request for a particular amount of bandwidth; performing an overgrant if the particular amount of bandwidth is less than the minimum bandwidth grant size, in which the overgrant comprises granting to the cable modem more than the requested particular amount of bandwidth; and performing an undergrant if the particular amount of bandwidth is greater than the maximum bandwidth grant size, in which the undergrant comprises granting to the cable modem less than the requested particular amount of bandwidth.

SYSTEM AND METHODOLOGY FOR IMPLEMENTING THE SAFE DE-PROVISIONING OF POOLED CLOUD RESOURCES
20170337087 · 2017-11-23 ·

A system and method of implementing safe deprovisioning of pooled cloud resources in response to physical resource shut down, comprises a cluster of computer system devices. At least one memory device among the one or more memory devices stores a set of program modules, and an Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) open-standard specification. A set of program modules comprises an input module, a shutdown module, and a data transfer module. The input module receives from a first computer system device among the cluster, a first signal. The first signal comprises information regarding a power-off event triggered in the first computer system device. The data transfer module implements the ACPI open-standard specification in the first computer system device, and migrate data comprised in the first computer system device into a second computer system device. The shutdown module to de-power the first computer system device.

Bandwidth management for content delivery

A service platform for a content delivery network indicates a transmission rate cap to be imposed when streaming data to a data requesting device over an access network. Means are provided for receiving a service request for delivery of data from a requesting device as the result of which the requested data is delivered as a prioritised traffic stream over an access link to the requesting device. The service platform processes the service request to determine one or more performance characteristics of said access link and uses this to determine the maximum transmission rate for the requested data to be streamed at over the access link during its delivery to the requesting device. This information is included in a source address for the requested data which the service platform generates, typically as a URL. The maximum transmission rate set is provided as a prefix to the URL (or in some other meta-data format) to the requesting device, and the content delivery platform is configured to ensure that requests for media assets which are received at the logical or virtual ports associated with the URL pre-fixes are responded to by transmissions limited to the maximum bandwidth cap indicated by the URL pre-fix.
