Accelerated startup of satellite high-bandwidth communication sessions
Various arrangements for increasing a transfer rate of a data transfer via satellite are presented. A satellite gateway may set an accelerated set of communication parameters that control communication between the satellite gateway and the satellite terminal via the satellite and between the satellite gateway and the content source to an accelerated transfer rate between the content source and the satellite terminal. A first set of data may be transferred from the content source to the satellite terminal using the set of communication parameters. After transferring the first set of data, the satellite gateway may adjust the initial set of communication parameters to an adjusted set of communication parameters. The adjusted transfer rate can be lower than the accelerated transfer rate.
Recalibrating resource profiles for network slices in a 5G or other next generation wireless network
The technologies described herein are generally directed to facilitating the allocation, scheduling, and management of network slice resources. According some embodiments, a system can facilitate performance of operations. The operations can include, based on a request for a network service type that was received from a user device, allocating a network slice of a network to the user device, with the network slice being previously assigned a capacity of a resource of the network in accordance with a resource profile. Further, operations include monitoring performance of the network slice, resulting in monitored slice performance compared to a performance requirement of the network service type. Another operation includes, based on the monitored slice performance, facilitating recalibration of the resource profile in accordance with a condition associated with the network service type, resulting in a modification of the capacity of the resource assigned to the network slice.
System and method for providing network support services and premises gateway support infrastructure
A service management system communicates via wide area network with gateway devices located at respective user premises. The service management system remotely manages delivery of application services, which can be voice controlled, by a gateway, e.g. by selectively activating/deactivating service logic modules in the gateway. The service management system also may selectively provide secure communications and exchange of information among gateway devices and among associated endpoint devices. An exemplary service management system includes a router connected to the network and one or more computer platforms, for implementing management functions. Examples of the functions include a connection manager for controlling system communications with the gateway devices, an authentication manager for authenticating each gateway device and controlling the connection manager and a subscription manager for managing applications services and/or features offered by the gateway devices. A service manager, controlled by the subscription manager, distributes service specific configuration data to authenticated gateway devices.

Application computation offloading for mobile edge computing
Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media, are provided for offloading computationally intensive tasks from one computer device to another computer device taking into account, inter alia, energy consumption and latency budgets for both computation and communication. Embodiments may also exploit multiple radio access technologies (RATs) in order to find opportunities to offload computational tasks by taking into account, for example, network/RAT functionalities, processing, offloading coding/encoding mechanisms, and/or differentiating traffic between different RATs. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Resource management apparatus, resource management system, and resource management method
A resource management apparatus, a resource management system, and a resource management method. The resource management apparatus stores in one or more memories, positional relation of a resource and reservation information related to a reservation of the resource, in response to receiving a usage start request for starting a use of the resource from a communication terminal, determines whether one or more resources in surroundings are secured based on the positional relation and the reservation information, identifies the resource as an available resource in response to a determination that the one or more resources in the surroundings are not secured, and transmits usage information regarding the use of the available resource to the communication terminal.
Dynamic communication system registry traffic control on a communication network
A communication system including a registry, a traffic service-level classifier, and a network traffic controller receives messages from a communication address, and performs a proactive address verification process to determine a class of service for the network traffic controller to utilize for the communication address, thereby unlocking additional functionality for the communication address on the network.
MULTICAST ROUTING THROUGH MULTI-TIER EDGE GATEWAYS
A method of transmitting multicast traffic to workloads of tenants communicating over overlay networks provisioned on top of a physical network includes the steps of: detecting the multicast traffic; determining that the multicast traffic is bound for workloads of a first tenant and workloads of a second tenant; encapsulating one instance of the multicast traffic using a Layer 2 (L2) over Layer 3 (L3) encapsulation protocol to generate encapsulated traffic, wherein the encapsulated traffic includes an identifier of a first backplane network corresponding to the first tenant and an identifier of a second backplane network corresponding to the second tenant in a header portion of each packet of the encapsulated traffic; and transmitting, to a first host computing device, the encapsulated traffic with the identifiers of the first and second overlay networks.
Methods and apparatus to throttle media access by web crawlers
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to throttle resource access by web crawlers. An example method disclosed herein includes obtaining, at a server, a media request message for media hosted by the server, the media request message requesting access to the media, characterizing a media-requesting source associated with the media request message, and inserting a time delay in a media response message to the media-requesting source based on the characterization.
