A monitoring solution allows for testing of forwarding states on network devices. In a particular example, an agent on a router A directs a probe packet to a first neighbor device. The first neighbor device reflects the probe back to the router A. The reflected probe packet undergoes a forwarding state lookup similar to other network traffic and is routed to a second neighbor network device. The second neighbor network device reflects the probe back to router A, which can then intercept the packet and redirect it to an agent on router A for verification whether the lookup was performed correctly.

A method of configuring at least one switch involves configuring the at least one switch to direct communication to at least one of a plurality of computers according to at least one outcome of simulated interaction of a plurality of virtual network routers. A method of simulating interaction of a plurality of virtual network routers involves: causing a first at least one processor circuit to simulate the interaction of the plurality of virtual network routers; and causing a second at least one processor circuit, different from the first at least one processor circuit, to simulate the interaction of the plurality of virtual network routers redundantly to the simulated interaction of the plurality of virtual network routers on the first at least one processor circuit. Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, devices, computer program products, and methods implementing aspects of digital content retrieval using a decentralized content fabric. In some implementations, fabric nodes of an overlay network are provided. A first fabric node is configured to: determine, responsive to a client request for a content object part, that the content object part is not stored locally at the first fabric node; identify a second one or more fabric nodes as a best match; send a network request for the content object part to the second one or more fabric nodes; obtain the content object part from the second one or more fabric nodes; and process the content object part with further content object parts to produce the digital content for the client.

A method for processing state information updates. The method includes receiving, by a coordination point, a plurality of state information from a plurality of network elements; processing at least one of the plurality of state information to generate a result; and applying the result to at least one of the plurality of network elements in order to modify an operation of the at least one of the plurality of network elements.

A fabric control protocol (FCP) and packet forwarding mechanisms are described that maximize utilization of bandwidth within massive, large-scale data centers having multi-stage data center switch fabric topologies, such as topologies that include a third switching layer formed by super spine switches. Automatic generation of data plane forwarding information referred to as FCP path information enumerates, for each data processing unit (DPU), the available FCP paths. The FCP path information may be based on unique combinations of peak points of the switch fabric for a given DPU with FCP colors assigned to network links that are used to multi-home the DPU to the switch fabric.

A device that may configure itself is disclosed. The device may include an interface that may be used for communications with a chassis. The interface may support a plurality of transport protocols. The device may include a Vital Product Data (VPD) reading logic to read a VPD from the chassis and a built-in self-configuration logic to configure the interface to use one of the transport protocols and to disable alternative transport protocols, responsive to the VPD.

Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, devices, computer program products, and methods implementing aspects of a decentralized system for security and access control associated with digital content. In some implementations, a software stack is executed to provide fabric nodes of an overlay network. A transaction encrypted with a private key of a client can be recorded in a ledger identifying addresses of fabric nodes of the overlay network. The transaction can be identified by a transaction identifier (ID), and the private key can be part of a public/private key pair representing an account of the client on the ledger. A digital contract can be invoked, where the digital contract represents one or more terms of access for digital content stored in the overlay network. Controlled client access to the digital content can be based on an authorization token obtained from the client.

A controller at an IP (e.g., client) layer in a multi-layer network can request a network topology map from another controller at an optical (e.g., server) layer in the multi-layer network. The controller at the optical layer of the network can use a layer mapping function and common attributes between the formats used to describe the network topology map at the two layers to generate a common layer abstraction model representing the network topology map stored at the controller at the optical layer of the network. A controller-to-controller interface can translate and/or send the common layer abstraction model to the controller at the IP layer for processing data on the network.
