A method and apparatus are disclosed of providing a user application with a notification message. One example method may include receiving a script to setup a message queue, the script may include a database schema and the script may be executed by a processor to apply the database schema to a database that includes the message queue. The method may also include receiving one or more notifications messages having specific notification content that is applied to notification messages. The notifications may be received from a remote device. The message queue may include notification content used to generate notification messages destined for end user devices.

The present disclosure provides a message processing method and apparatus. The method includes: obtaining, by a computing terminal associated with the social-network application, a message-reception threshold of a group, the computing terminal including a memory and at least a processor coupled to the memory; obtaining, by the computing terminal, group behavior information of the group, the group behavior information including at least a number of messages received by the group over a preset time duration; and setting, by the computing terminal, the group to a do-not-disturb mode when the number of messages received by the group over the preset time duration exceeds the message-reception threshold, so as to stop sending notification in real time for any new message received by the group.

A second functionality can be selected, out of a set of functionalities, based on a current state associated with the computing system. In some implementations, a method includes extracting message attributes of an email associated with a user from the email. User interaction data is identified that is generated by the user in association with display of the email based on sensor data from one or more sensors. It is determined that the user interaction data corresponds to a routine of the user based on a routine-related aspect generated from a user routine model representing the routine. A time to present a notification of the email is determined based on the routine. The notification is provided to the user on a user device based on the determined time to present the notification.

Methods, systems, and media for sending a message about a new video to a group of related users are provided. In accordance with some embodiments, the method comprises: determining that a new video associated with a content creator has been uploaded to a video sharing service; identifying a group of candidate users to receive a message indicating that the new video is available; identifying a sub-group of users within the group of candidate users based on relationships of users within the group to each other; determining a time to send the message; transmitting the message to the sub-group of users at the determined time; determining that the message has been selected by a user device associated with a user of the sub-group of users; and causing the new video to be presented in a user interface including a communication interface associated with the sub-group of users on the user device.

A smart mailbox system capable of electronically communicating the receipt of mail and the collection of mail to an end user. User authentication allows the mailbox to communicate the identity of the user who collects the mail. The mailbox also images the mail so as to provide a record of the receipt of specific pieces of mail and to permit the user to visually see the collected mail without having to go to the mailbox. A monitoring system for apparatus and systems in commercial and residential properties is provided. The monitoring system consists of a head unit and a tail unit, each of which has one or more sensors that measure performance parameters that are important to understanding the performance of the apparatus and system being monitored. In one embodiment, a method includes one or more computing devices detecting a triggering action by a user of a social-networking system, wherein the detecting includes receiving information about the triggering action from a client device associated with the user and accessing a queue including multiple notifications. The method also includes, for each of one or more of the notifications, calculating using a machine-learning model, a click-through probability that the user will interact with the notification upon display of the notification, wherein the machine-learning model is based at least in part on one or more features associated with the user or the notification, determining whether the click-through probability satisfies a threshold, and if the click-through probability satisfies the threshold, then sending the notification to the client device associated with the user for display, else, removing the notification from the queue.
