Distributed network address discovery in non-uniform node networks can be performed. Regarding a client request for a service, network management component (NMC) can determine a network address space associated with a client based on a network identifier associated with the client or a node identifier. NMC can determine a group of candidate nodes (CN group) from a group of nodes based on network addresses associated with nodes of the node group and the network address space. NMC can determine a group of available candidate nodes (ACN group), from the CN group, available and able to process the request and perform the service based on operational statuses associated with the nodes of the CN group or services associated with those nodes. From the ACN group, NMC can determine a ranked list of network addresses associated with available nodes that can process the request based on defined service performance criteria.

SELECTING INTERFACES FOR DEVICE-GROUP IDENTIFIERS

In one embodiment, a computer networking device calculates a first hash value for an identifier of a group of computing devices, as well as a second hash value for the identifier of the group of computing devices, with each hash value being at least in part on the identifier of the group of computing devices and an identifier of the respective interface. The computer networking device may also analyze the first hash value with respect to the second hash value and select the first interface for association with the identifier of the group of computing devices based at in part on the analyzing. The computer networking device may further store an indication that the identifier of the group of computing devices is associated with the first interface.

When the retrieved unicast addresses are not all serviced by the gateway device, the message is transmitted by the gateway device on all except one of the interfaces.

The subnet manager can be configured to determine that the plurality of hosts and the plurality of switches support a same set of capabilities. On such determination, the subnet manager can configure an SMA flag, the flag indicating that a condition can be set for each of the host channel adapter ports.
