Method and apparatus for finding a neighbor in a wireless communication system
A device and method for performing Internet Protocol (IP) configuration by a station (STA) of a wireless communication network. The method includes: prior to associating with an access point (AP), receiving, at the STA from the AP, a beacon frame including subnet information and IP type information of the AP; transmitting, by the STA to the AP, a request frame including a requested IP address. Here, the requested IP address is determined by the STA based on the subnet information and the IP type information of the AP. The method also includes: receiving, by the STA from the AP, a response frame including information on an availability of the requested IP address; and associating with the AP by the STA based on the response frame.
Method for reporting a power headroom and communication device thereof
There is provided a method for a method for reporting a power headroom. The method may comprise: identifying a change of a MAC entity; and triggering a power headroom reporting (PHR), if the change of the MAC entity is identified.
METHOD FOR MONITORING OR TRACKING BETWEEN MOBILE DEVICES
In a method for monitoring or tracking between mobile devices of a same group, mobile devices broadcast messages in broadcast mode over a radio interface in compliance with a short-range digital communication protocol. The messages can be received by all other mobile devices in the vicinity and can communicate according to the protocol. The messages include encrypted data encrypted using at least one identifier of the emitter device and a seed intended for single use or having a short period of validity. The encrypted data can only be decrypted by a limited group of devices. The mobile devices receive messages broadcast by other devices and decrypt the messages intended for a group to which they belong. If the protocol provides that the message includes an address field of the emitter device, this field is filled with a randomised address intended for single use or having a short period of use.
PERFORMING DUPLICATE ADDRESS DETECTION FOR AN INTEGRATED ROUTING AND BRIDGING DEVICE
A device may activate a layer 3 interface of the device based on activation of a first layer 2 interface associated with the layer 3 interface. The device may detect activation of a second layer 2 interface, associated with the layer 3 interface, after activating the layer 3 interface. The device may activate a filter to prevent transfer of network traffic via the second layer 2 interface based on detecting activation of the second layer 2 interface. The device may perform duplicate address detection, in association with the second layer 2 interface, for a layer 3 network address assigned to the device. The device may determine whether the layer 3 network address is a duplicate network address based on performing the duplicate address detection. The device may selectively maintain or deactivate the filter based on determining whether the layer 3 network address is a duplicate network address.
METHOD AND SYSTEM OF USING IPV6 NEIGHBOR DISCOVERY OPTIONS FOR SERVICE DISCOVERY
A method is disclosed of using IPv6 Neighbor Discovery to discover application services in an IPv6 network, the method including hosting a list of application services on a first host device; creating an application service Neighbor Discovery option for the list of application services hosted on the first host device; attaching the application service Neighbor Discovery option to a Neighbor Discovery solicitation response, a Neighbor Discovery advertisement, or a Neighbor Discovery solicitation request; and sending the Neighbor Discovery solicitation response, the Neighbor Discovery advertisement, or the Neighbor Discovery solicitation request with the application service Neighbor Discovery option from the first host device to one or more second host devices on a IPv6 network connection, wherein the application service Neighbor Discovery option provides the one or more second host devices with the list of application services hosted on the first host device.
CLIENT DEVICE BASED SOLUTION FOR HANDLING MAC RANDOMIZATION
A system and method are provided for a network device for use with a client device having a hostname and a MAC address. The network device contains a memory that has a second hostname and a second MAC address stored within the memory. The second MAC address corresponds to the second hostname. The memory also contains a processor configured to execute instructions stored on the memory to cause the network device to: receive, from the client device, the hostname and the MAC address; determine whether the MAC address is randomized; provide an instruction to the client device to inform a user of the client device that the client device hostname is registered when the hostname matches the second hostname and the MAC address is randomized.
FIELD COMMUNICATION INTERFACE WITH IMPROVED AUTOCONFIGURATION
A field communication interface, FCI, for interfacing field equipment with a network of an industrial control system, has a network interface that is configurable to participate in the network using a network address; a location determining unit configured to determine a location identifier that uniquely identifies the physical location of the FCI within the industrial control system and/or within the network; and an address determining unit configured to determine a network address that is valid in the network from the location identifier.
Mobile discovery via community self-naming conventions
Systems and methods may provide for determining a self-naming convention associated with a group of devices and receiving a first discovery communication from a remote mobile device. Additionally, a pairing process between the remote mobile device and a local mobile device may be accelerated if the first discovery communication is a remote device name that complies with the self-naming convention. In one example, a local device name may be generated in accordance with the self-naming convention and the local device name may be broadcasted as a second discovery communication.
