OPTIMIZING NETWORK RESOURCES USAGE BY DYNAMICALLY CONTROLLING MEDIA BURSTS IN SIMULTANEOUS PUSH TO TALK OVER CELLULAR (POC) CALLS
Optimal network resource consumption by dynamically controlling media bursts in Simultaneous PoC (Push-To-X (Push-To-Voice/Video/etc.) Over Cellular) calls. Embodiments disclosed herein relate to wireless communication networks, and more particularly to PoC calls performed using wireless communication networks. Embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for optimal network resource consumption by dynamically controlling media bursts, when a user is participating in simultaneous PoC sessions. Embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for optimal network resource consumption by enabling a user to selectively enable/disable multiple PoC sessions using MBCP “Activate” and “Deactivate” messages.
Communication apparatus, communication method, and storage medium
A communication apparatus includes a transmission unit configured to, in response to an information request from another apparatus, transmit issued information issued by the communication apparatus to the another apparatus, a first reception unit configured to receive a transfer request based on the issued information from a client apparatus, a second reception unit configured to receive, from a server apparatus, data to be transferred to the client apparatus operating as a transmission source of the transfer request based on the issued information, and a transfer unit configured to, in a case where the first reception unit receives the transfer request based on the issued information from each of a plurality of client apparatuses including a client apparatus to which the issued information issued by the communication apparatus is not transmitted by the transmission unit, transfer the data received from the server apparatus to the plurality of client apparatuses.
COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD OF OPTIMIZING BANDWIDTH IN A PSAP ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNICATION NETWORK
A computer-implemented method of optimizing bandwidth in a public safety answering point (PSAP) environment ca n include retrieving content related to emergency incidents from a Social Media (SM) server, feeding the content to a Stream Processing Module having a Machine Learning engine for determining a similarity level between the emergency call and any of the emergency incidents retrieved from the SM server. If the similarity level exceeds a predetermined threshold value, then option for downgrading the emergency call to a call comprising only audio data can be provided. If this downgrade option is selected, the RTP stream of the emergency call can be downgraded to an audio call without any video.
Method for prioritizing push-to-talk service in a roamed network
A method is provided that allows for prioritizing Push-To-Talk (PTT) service in a roamed network. PTT service is enabled for a mobile device at a first network. The mobile device roams to a second network that is of an older generation than the first network. It is determined that the mobile device has an active PTT subscription. PTT service is prioritized for the mobile device over circuit switched services on the second network.
Managing streamed audio communication sessions
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for managing streamed audio communication sessions between user devices (50) configured to send streamed data indicative of received audio contributions from respective participants in a multiple-participant audio communication session via a communications network to one or more other user devices (50) for conversion to audio representations of said received audio contributions for other participants. The method comprises monitoring audio contributions from respective participants, and in response to detection therefrom that a first participant is beginning to make an audio contribution at a first one of said user devices (50a) after a period of silence, providing a signal for at least one of said other user devices (50b, 50c, 50d) indicating that the first participant is beginning to make an audio contribution; and in response to receipt at said at least one other user device (50b, 50c, 50d) of such a signal, triggering a predetermined audible indication for a participant at said at least one other user device (50b, 50c, 50d) that said first participant is beginning to make an audio contribution.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR CENTRALIZED MESSAGE EXCHANGE IN A USER PREMISES DEVICE
Methods and apparatus for providing a messaging server within a premises device e.g., a home or enterprise gateway device. In one embodiment, a system is described that includes a premises device that acts as a centralized client messaging platform providing messaging services between a content provider and client devices, and also between client devices within a premises network. The premises device enables client-to-client communication that bypasses the long trip and propagation delay over the Internet by connecting the message across the premises network within the home or building. The premises device enables messages to be communicated between a content provider outside the premises network and the client devices via a single connection to minimize the number of Internet connections that need to be opened, and the number of messages communicated with servers outside of the premises network via both upstream aggregation and downstream dis-aggregation, which collectively save both network bandwidth and device reaction time.
Radio communication apparatus and method with switch for internal/external speaker-microphone mechanism used in radio and PTT communications
A radio communication apparatus includes a transceiver circuit, an internal speaker, an internal microphone, an external connection terminal, a connection detection circuit, a drive setting circuit, and a disconnection detection circuit. The transceiver circuit transmits and receives a transmission audio signal and a reception audio signal. The connection detection circuit detects a connection between the external speaker-microphone and the external connection terminal. The drive setting circuit drives the internal speaker and the internal microphone when the connection is not detected, and drives the external speaker-microphone when the connection is detected. The disconnection detection circuit detects a disconnection in an audio signal line for the external speaker. Further, when the disconnection is detected, the drive setting circuit makes the internal speaker output a sound represented by a reception audio signal.
SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFOR
At least one server (11) communicates with one or more applications running on each of wireless terminals (2) through one or more communication paths provided by a cellular communication network (3). The at least one server (11) determines a QoS parameter to be applied by the cellular communication network (3) to each communication path, based on one or any combination of a priority associated with each application, a priority associated with each wireless terminal (2), and a priority associated with an organization to which the wireless terminals (2) belong. The at least one server (11) communicates with a node in the cellular communication network (3) to enforce the determined QoS parameter on the corresponding communication path. This, for example, allows priority handling regarding a public safety service to be reflected in a QoS parameter of a cellular communication network.
Waiting notifications for videoconferencing sub-meetings
One example system for providing notifications to videoconferencing sub-meetings includes a processor and at least one memory device. The processor establishes a videoconferencing session associated with a host. The videoconferencing session can include a main meeting, a sub-meeting, and a waiting queue. The processor can move the host from the main meeting to the sub-meeting, and subsequently move a new participant into the waiting queue. The processor can generate a notification that the participant has entered the waiting queue and determine that the host has moved to the sub-meeting. The processor can route, to the host in the sub-meeting using a stored connection of the host to the main meeting, a notification of the participant entering the waiting queue, and subsequently allow the host to admit the new participant.
