A relay device includes a network communication unit, a control unit, and a session table. The network communication unit receives, from terminal devices, an audio signal to which is attached information for designating the terminal device of the other party of communication. When a calling voice packet is received from one of the terminal devices, the control unit registers, in the session table, a communication session in which this terminal device and the terminal device designated by the designating information constitute participating terminals. Thereafter, the control unit transfers an audio signal received from one of the participating terminals to each of the participating terminals and, when an audio signal is received from two or more of the participating terminals at the same time, mixes the received audio signals and transmits the mixed audio signal to the participating terminals.

A method of controlling a portable radio communication device to participate in a talk group call. The method includes receiving, at the portable radio communication device, a signal including a first hash value transmitted by at least one other portable radio communication device; selecting a wireless access point that is within a communication range of the portable radio communication device; applying a hash function to a device identifier that is uniquely associated with the wireless access point to generate a second hash value; comparing the first hash value with the second hash value; and controlling the portable radio communication device to participate in a talk group call with the at least one other portable radio communication device when the first hash value matches with the second hash value.

A communication is pushed to the party on the device as a push communication in real time while the party is still present on the device. A method includes identifying a notification to be sent to a user having a plurality of user devices; determining presence of the user on a first user device of the plurality of user devices; determining whether a media player on the first user device is playing media content; and upon determining that the media player on the first user device is playing the media content, transmitting the notification to the first user device without transmitting the notification to other user devices of the plurality of user devices.

Upon a new member joining a talkgroup, or just prior to the new member joining the talkgroup, the new member will be placed on a private channel to provide the new member with knowledge on previous discussions/experiences of talkgroup members. Preferably, the prior knowledge will be conveyed to the user audibly by, for example, use of a digital assistant.

A system and method for relay-mode and direct-mode operations for Push-to-talk-over-Cellular (PoC) using WiFi technologies. One or more servers interface to a wireless communications network to perform advanced voice services for mobile units therein, wherein the advanced voice services include an instant two-way half-duplex voice call within a group of the mobile units comprising a PoC call session. Both the servers and the mobile units that use the advanced group services communicate with each other using control messages within the wireless communications network. At least one of the servers switches voice messages for the advanced group services between the mobile units across the wireless communications network. At least one of the servers manages the call session by acting as an arbitrator for the call session and by controlling the sending of the control messages and the voice messages to and from the mobile units. At least one of the mobile units performs Relay-Mode or Direct-Mode operations using WiFi communications for delivery of the control messages and the voice messages to and from others of the mobile units, thereby enabling the advanced voice services when access to the wireless communications network by the others of the mobile units is limited.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a device for associating a user with a group. The method includes: receiving, by a first communications device, a first association request sent by a second communications device, where the first association request includes an identifier of an MCPTT user and identifiers of N MCPTT groups, and N is a positive integer; associating the MCPTT user with M MCPTT groups of the N MCPTT groups according to association subscription information of the MCPTT user; and sending a first association response to the second communications device, where the first association response is used to indicate that the MCPTT user is successfully associated with the M MCPTT groups of the N MCPTT groups, 1?M?N, and M is an integer. In this way, the MCPTT user is associated with the M MCPTT groups that the MCPTT user is interested in.
