Synchronizing playback by media playback devices

Example systems, apparatus, and methods receive audio information including a plurality of frames from a source device, wherein each frame of the plurality of frames includes one or more audio samples and a time stamp indicating when to play the one or more audio samples of the respective frame. In an example, the time stamp is updated for each of the plurality of frames using a time differential value determined between clock information received from the source device and clock information associated with the device. The updated time stamp is stored for each of the plurality of frames, and the audio information is output based on the plurality of frames and associated updated time stamps. A number of samples per frame to be output is adjusted based on a comparison between the updated time stamp for the frame and a predicted time value for play back of the frame.

Joining and dimensional annotation in a streaming pipeline

Disclosed are embodiments for providing batch performance using a stream processor. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising receiving, at a stream processor, an event, the stream processor including a plurality of processing stages; generating, by the stream processor, an augmented event based on the event, the augmented event including at least one additional field not appearing in the event, the additional field generated by an operation selected from the group consisting of a join or dimensional annotation operation; and emitting, by the stream processor, the augmented event to downstream consumer.

Methods, systems, and devices for presenting background and overlay indicia in a videoconference

A conferencing system terminal device includes a communication device receiving one or more videoconference feeds depicting one or more subjects engaged in a videoconference from one or more remote electronic devices. The conferencing system terminal device includes a contextual information extraction engine extracting contextual information of the videoconference from the one or more videoconference feeds. One or more processors automatically apply overlay indicia generated from the contextual information to at least one videoconference feed during the videoconference. A display presents the at least one videoconference feed after the overlay indicia is applied.

Sliced encoding and decoding for remote rendering

Disclosed herein are related to a device and a method of remotely rendering an image. In one approach, a device divides an image of an artificial reality space into a plurality of slices. In one approach, the device encodes a first slice of the plurality of slices. In one approach, the device encodes a portion of a second slice of the plurality of slices, while the device encodes a portion of the first slice. In one approach, the device transmits the encoded first slice of the plurality of slices to a head wearable display. In one approach, the device transmits the encoded second slice of the plurality of slices to the head wearable display, while the device transmits a portion of the encoded first slice to the head wearable display.

Segment quality-guided adaptive stream creation

Embodiments provide for improved stream generation. A target average bitrate (TAB) segment is generated by encoding a first segment, of a plurality of segments in a video, using a first maximum average bitrate (MAB) of a plurality of MABs specified in an encoding ladder. An intermediate average bitrate (IAB) segment is generated by encoding the first segment using a first intermediate bitrate, wherein the first intermediate bitrate is lower than the first MAB. Upon receiving a request for the first segment at the first MAB, the IAB segment is output based at least in part on determining that a first quality score of the IAB segment is within a predefined tolerance of a second quality score of the TAB segment.

A method and receiver are provided. The receiver comprises a first delay buffer and redundant data removal block. The first delay buffer is configured to delay a first data stream carrying first content. The first data stream is comprised of a plurality of compressed data blocks. The redundant data removal block configured to for each compressed data block of the first data stream: identify redundant data in the compressed data block; remove the redundant data to provide a reduced compressed data block; and store the reduced compressed data block in the first delay buffer.

TRANSMITTING SYSTEM, TRANSMISSION SLOTTING APPARATUS, RECEIVING APPARATUS, AND TRANSMISSION SLOT GENERATING METHOD

A transmitting system includes a variable-length packet multiplexing apparatus and a transmission slotting apparatus. The variable-length packet multiplexing apparatus generates a variable-length packet. The transmission slotting apparatus stores the variable-length packet in slots forming transmission main signals. The transmission slotting apparatus includes a capacity calculator, an extractor, a remainder calculator, a selector, and a slot information multiplexer. The capacity calculator calculates a data capacity of the transmission main signals for one frame. The extractor extracts a byte number of the variable-length packet. The remainder calculator calculates a remaining capacity of the transmission main signals. The selector stores a predetermined data sequence in a region left in the slots, and outputs the slots storing the data sequence. The slot information multiplexer multiplexes slot information and the slots output by the selector.

Systems and methods for stitching advertisements in streaming content are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method comprises receiving one or more advertisements. An unmarked content item may be received, the unmarked content item comprising a stream-enabled video including a set of sequential black frames. An insertion point may be identified based on a location of at least one black frame of the set of sequential black frames without requiring user input, the insertion point identified during streaming of the unmarked content item to a consumer system, the insertion point being ahead of a current playback point of the unmarked content item streaming to the consumer system. The one or more advertisements may be stitched in the unmarked content item at the insertion point. The unmarked content item may be streamed to a consumer system until the insertion point is reached, and the one or more advertisements may be streamed to the consumer system when the insertion point is reached.
