Extinguishing method and system using a liquid synthetic extinguishing agent and water

A method for extinguishing objects or appliances, in which, once a fire signal has been detected at point in time t1, a first device (17) providing an extinguishing agent is triggered, for discharging a liquid synthetic extinguishing agent (14), via a separating device (8), a common conveying pipe (9) and at least one nozzle (10), and, once a second fire signal has been detected at point in time t2, a second device (18) providing an extinguishing agent is triggered for discharging water (3) or a water-based extinguishing agent via the separating device (8), the common conveying pipe (9) and the at least one nozzle (10) for extinguishing. A system is also provided for extinguishing objects or appliances.

An apparatus is disclosed for extinguishing a stovetop fire over a stovetop having a first burner, the apparatus including a container detachably mountable to a microwave positioned above the stove top. A supply of fire suppressant material is retained within the container. A heat responsive actuator is disposed on the container. When the container is mounted to the microwave over the first burner, and the fire actuates the heat responsive actuator, at least a portion of the supply of fire suppressant material falls from the container toward the first burner.

A cartridge with a status indicator, a fire suppression system for incorporating the same, and a method of inspecting whether a fire suppression system is capable of being actuated are provided. The status indicator is connected to the body of the cartridge. The status indicator defines a first state and a second state. The status indicator undergoes a change from the first state to the second state when exposed to a physical change. The physical change may include at least one of a decrease in temperature beyond a threshold, an increase in relative humidity beyond a threshold, and a threshold differential temperature change. The physical change is caused by the discharge of the cartridge. When installed within a fire suppression system, the status indicator enables the visual inspection of whether the fire suppression system is capable of being actuated.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER VALVE FOR A FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM, FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM COMPRISING SUCH FIRE EXTINGUISHER VALVE, AND METHOD OF OPERATING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER VALVE

A fire extinguisher valve for controlling a flow of a fire extinguishing agent in a fire extinguishing system comprises a valve body; a manual lever, which is manually movable between an open position, in which a fire extinguishing agent discharge path through the valve body is established, and a closed position, in which the fire extinguishing agent discharge path through the valve body is closed; and a mechanical actuator, which is mounted to and supported by the valve body. The mechanical actuator comprises an actuation element for acting upon the manual lever for moving the manual lever from its closed position to its open position; an elastic element for moving the actuation element, and a trigger mechanism for holding the actuation element in a preloaded position, in which the elastic element is preloaded, and for releasing the actuation element, when the mechanical actuator is activated.
