The information apparatus operating system supports an application programming interface (API). A user can install additional applications. The information apparatus may further include a microphone and a speaker for interacting via voice commands with the user. In some examples, the user may take a picture with the digital camera included in the information apparatus and transfer or synchronize the picture to a wireless output device. In other examples, the information apparatus may further wirelessly play, print, stream, or mirror digital content, via the touch sensitive screen, to an output device.
Telecommunication terminal
A telecommunication terminal that integrated with a wireless access point is provided. According to one embodiment, a telecommunication terminal includes a local area network (LAN) port, a processor, an Internet Protocol (IP) phone unit, a wireless access point unit and a housing. The LAN port is connectable to an enterprise computer network via an Ethernet cable. The processor runs a host operating system (OS). The IP phone unit is implemented as an application that is loaded and run within the host OS. The wireless access point unit facilitates access to the enterprise computer network by wireless devices within a coverage area of the wireless access point unit by providing wireless connections to the wireless devices and is implemented as an application that is loaded and run within the host OS. The housing encloses the processor and the LAN port.
OUTPUT DEVICES THAT ESTABLISH WIRELESS CONNECTION WITH AN INFORMATION APPARATUS SUBSEQUENT TO HAVING BEEN WIRELESSLY DISCOVERED BY THE INFORMATION APPARATUS
Output devices (or output controllers connectable to an output device) that establish a wireless connection with an information apparatus are herein disclosed and enabled. An output device may be an audio output device, a printer, a television, a projector, or a display device. The output device may include one or more chips or chipsets that are compatible with Bluetooth or IEEE 802.11 standards. The output device is operable to: wirelessly announce its availability for the information apparatus to wirelessly discover the output device when the information apparatus is within a limited physical distance to the output device; wirelessly transmit one or more device attributes related to the output device from the output device to the information apparatus that has wirelessly discovered the output device; and wirelessly receive, from the information apparatus, output data that is in accordance, at least in part, to the one or more device attributes.
PHONE APPLIANCE WITH DISPLAY SCREEN AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
A phone appliance and method of use are provided where the phone appliance can be used to make VoIP communications calls. In a preferred embodiment, the phone appliance includes an RF connection for connecting to a computer or other computing device for facilitating the placement of the VoIP communications calls. The phone appliance further includes a display or portal for depicting advertisements provided by various advertisers. The advertisements provided can be used to defray all or part of the cost associated with making VoIP communications calls. The portal can also be used to communicate with businesses for ordering products. such as ordering a pizza, and to perform various services, such as purchasing stocks. In an exemplary system, the phone appliance is used to transmit to a control center information related to the user of the phone appliance, such as interests and buying habits, and queries for receiving additional information for various advertised products and services. The control center transmits the queries to the appropriate vendors for providing the user with additional information. Other functions and features are provided to the phone appliance, such as being able to download e-mail messages stored within or received by the computer.
System and method for connecting a user to business services
A system and method for interacting with a user receives a request from the user to be connected to a business. The system then checks to determine if a voice application has been prepared for that business, or to determine if there are any voice applications that are relevant to the goods and/or services provided by the business. If so, the system performs the voice application for the user, instead of connecting the user to the business. If no such voice applications exist, then the system proceeds to connect the user to the business.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING, AGGREGATING AND/OR DISTRIBUTING PRESENCE INFORMATION
Methods and apparatus for deriving and/or generating, user presence information from communication signals monitored by a SBC or PRI Gateway and aggregating and/or distributing the user presence information. An exemplary method embodiment includes the steps of storing a plurality of user profile records, each of the user profile records mapping contact information for a user to one or more user identifiers corresponding to the user; receiving first signaling information; determining a first user corresponding to the first signaling information by comparing at least a first portion of the information contained in the first signaling information to at least a first portion of the information contained in the plurality of user profiles; and generating presence status information for the first user and communicating the first presence status information to a presence server as presence status information corresponding to a first user identifier, said first user identifier corresponding to said first user.
Apparatus and Methods for Audio and/or Video Communication
An improved apparatus for audio and/or video communication includes first input means for calling another apparatus for audio and/or video communication, and second input means for terminating a call. The apparatus is configured to assign a first functionality to the second input means and a second functionality different from the first functionality to the second input means Activation of the first and second functionality is dependent upon a status of the audio and/or video communication.
Systems and methods for cellular and landline text-to-audio and audio-to-text conversion
Systems and methods are provided for text-to-speech and speech-to-text conversion in wireless devices such as wireless telephones, remote facilities, and land-based devices such as land-line telephones. A wireless telephone, such as a personal cellular telephone, is provided that converts audio data such as a voice message into text data such that a user can view the contents of the voice message as text on the user's wireless telephone.
MOBILE INFORMATION APPARATUS THAT INCLUDES WIRELESS COMMUNICATION CIRCUITRY FOR DISCOVERY OF AN OUTPUT DEVICE FOR OUTPUTTING DIGITAL CONTENT AT THE WIRELESSLY DISCOVERED OUTPUT DEVICE
