A thermal trigger assembly for remote mechanical actuation of another fire protection system component includes an activation component having a base and a movable member. A bias member biases the movable member from a preactivation to an activated position with respect to the base. A thermally responsive element retains the movable member in the preactivation position until a predetermined thermodynamic condition is reached, when the thermally responsive element loses structural integrity. A flexible connector includes a flexible hollow outer cable housing with one end configured to be stationarily (preferably fixedly) connected with the base. A flexible cable is inside the outer cable housing for sliding movement therein and has one end configured to be stationarily (preferably fixedly) connected with the movable member. The flexible cable is moved with respect to the outer cable housing by movement of the movable member upon loss of structural integrity by the thermally responsive element.

A fire extinguisher assembly is disclosed, providing a connection from a standard fire extinguisher tank through to a housing with dispersion vents. A spray nozzle is secured within the housing for dispersing the fire retardant agent through the dispersion vents, and a connecting means is disclosed, positioned on the housing for securing the extinguisher assembly to a structure. An adapter further comprised of a first end fastened to the spray nozzle and a second end connected to an extinguisher tank is also disclosed to provide the said connection, therefore the fire retardant agent is expelled directly from the extinguisher tank through to the dispersion vents.

Fire Detection and Warning Systems, Devices, and Methods for Kitchen Ventilation

A fire detection and warning system includes a kitchen exhaust hood connected to an exhaust fan configured to ventilate convective heat and cooking fumes released by one or more cooking appliances installed under the kitchen exhaust hood, the kitchen exhaust hood having a plenum. A fire suppression system is operatively connected to the hood and positioned above the one or more cooking appliances and configured to be triggered by one or more fusible links with a predefined melting temperature. At least one temperature sensor is installed inside the plenum of the kitchen exhaust hood and provides temperature measurements to a control module. The control module is configured to generate a fire warning signal in response to a fume temperature reaching a predefined temperature threshold Tset for a predefined period of time Tdur, where Tset and the time Tdur are selected based on a melting temperature rating the fusible links.

Fire protection and suppression apparatus, materials, systems and methods of use thereof are disclosed. In fire extinguishing applications, a convergent-divergent nozzle is incorporated into a pyrotechnic aerosol generator to improve the discharge characteristics when combined with air induction, reduced quantity of cooling media, and re-shaped agent/combustion chamber for longer discharge duration. In fire extinguishing applications, aerosol extinguishing agent in sheets, panels or other forms can be placed inside an enclosure that may have a fire. Once initiated, the aerosol extinguishing material will burn to create and directly disperse the aerosol particulate that can extinguish the fire. Initiation of the aerosol agent can be by flames or heat from an unwanted fire. Alternative methods of initiation include electric initiators that are signaled by automatic fire detection systems, electric manual methods, or mechanical/thermal initiators.
