METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING TELEPHONE CALLS IN CONJUNCTION WITH CALL BLOCKING SERVICE
Methods and systems are disclosed for blocking unwanted telephone calls utilizing a ring blocking device that works in conjunction with an external remote call blocking service. The call blocking service blocks unwanted calls by examining the caller ID information that is normally transmitted to a wireline telephone device during the silent interval between the first and second power ringing bursts of the call. The call blocking service compares the caller ID information to a blacklist of unwanted calling parties and ends the call if the incoming call's caller ID information matches an entry on the blacklist. The ring blocking device, which is typically located on the user premises, is configured to prevent the first power ringing burst from activating the telephone ringer, while also ensuring that the telephone reliably receives and displays the caller ID.
Systems and methods for handling communications during user operation of a motor vehicle
In one aspect, a system for receiving communications while a user operates a motor vehicle is provided. The system may include (1) a BLUETOOTH interface configured to establish a connection to a BLUETOOTH device associated with the motor vehicle, (2) a wireless communication interface configured to receive a wireless communication from a remote device, and (3) a processor coupled to the wireless communication interface and the BLUETOOTH interface, and configured to: (a) determine the user is operating the motor vehicle based upon the connection to the BLUETOOTH device, and (b) suppress a notification of the user of receipt of the wireless communication while the user is operating the motor vehicle.

Extension mobility for analog telephones
According to some embodiments, a method performed by a software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) controller communicably coupled to a voice gateway comprises determining a user profile from one or more stored user profiles is to be associated with an analog telephone and transmitting the user profile to the voice gateway. In particular embodiments, the SD-WAN controller may receive a request to associate the analog telephone with a user from the voice gateway.

AC/DC phone line detector
An example AC/DC phone line detection system may include one or more of an electronic circuit that is floating with reference to ground, a first A/D converter coupled to the electronic circuit and configured to detect ringing voltages from DC voltages included in a telephone line, a second A/D converter coupled to the electronic circuit and configured to detect caller identification information from AC voltages included in the telephone line, and a processor configured to control signals detected by the first and second A/D convertors and output information about the signals to call taking equipment.
Call initiated service session
A method and system for providing a service session using a call include: initiating a first call between a caller and a callee according to a callee address record; establishing a voice communication session during the call; modifying the caller address record; and initiating a second call between the caller and the callee according to the modified callee address record. A behavior of the second call differs from a behavior of the first call. In one embodiment, the callee address record is modified according to a modification request. In one embodiment, the callee address record includes at least one session initiation entry. The session initiation entry includes a session address attribute with information for establishing the communication session, a session communication method with a protocol used for the communication session, and a session data attribute with data information for sending over the communication session based on the session address attribute.
