Systems and methods for locating faults in a telecommunication line using line test data
A fault in a telecommunication line can be identified and located using line test data for that telecommunication line. A series of line tests can be performed on a selected telecommunication line experiencing problems. The results from the series of line tests can be analyzed to identify differences in the results between the line tests. The identified differences can then be used to determine if a fluctuation is present in the telecommunication line. If a fluctuation is determined to be present in the telecommunication line, the identified differences can also be used to determine a location of the fluctuation relative to reference location such as the distribution point where the telecommunication line originates.

A method for detecting interconnect bypass by a subscription identity in a telecommunication network, said telecommunication network comprising at least a mobile switching center, MSC, serving a plurality of subscription identities, said method comprising the steps of setting a bypass threshold value which indicates a number of originating calls from a subscription identity per pre-defined period of time, monitoring the number of originating calls from at least one of said plurality of subscription identities per said pre-defined period of time, and detecting when said monitored number of originating calls for one of said plurality of subscription identities exceeds said bypass threshold value, and issuing an alert message thereby indicating an interconnect bypass by said one of said plurality of subscription identities.
Method for determining a distance to a passive intermodulation source, an apparatus and a computer program product
A method for determining a distance to a passive intermodulation source in a device under test, the method comprising transmitting at least two signals with respective different frequencies to the device under test, receiving a complex response signal from the device under test, the complex response signal comprising a passive intermodulation of the at least two signals, generating an autocorrelation matrix using the complex response signal, the autocorrelation matrix representing power information of the complex response signal, decomposing the complex response signal, using the autocorrelation matrix, into a signal component part and a noise component part and determining a distance to the passive intermodulation source in the device under test using the noise and/or signal component part.
Framework for predictive customer care support
Decreasing the time to resolution of trouble tickets and preemptively resolving potential network issues using a predictive customer care support framework communicatively coupled to a telecommunications service provider via a network is described. Techniques described herein include preprocessing ticket data associated with a trouble ticket corresponding to a subscriber using a decision engine that can implement a decision tree scheme to automatically identify appropriate data sources from which relevant data can be routed to the decision engine in a bundled format. The techniques further include detecting potential network issues not yet reported by subscribers using an analytical engine to identify a root cause for the potential network issues and implementing recommended solutions to reduce an influx of trouble tickets at a customer support terminal.
Methods and devices for determining termination characteristics of an electrically conductive line
The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for communication systems comprising an electrically conductive line. The disclosure proposes a method in a line estimation device for determining termination characteristics of an electrically conductive line in a communication system. The method comprises outputting a test signal to the line, wherein the test signal is a wideband test signal with a bandwidth arranged to provide an adequate measurement time-resolution. The method further comprises receiving reflections from impedance discontinuities of the line in response to the test signal. The method also comprises forming a trace of the reflections. The method additionally comprises identifying at least one anomaly in the trace of reflections. The method yet further comprises determining termination characteristics of the line based on characteristics of the trace before and after the identified at least one anomaly. The disclosure also relates to corresponding line estimation devices and computer programs.

Fault monitoring by assessing spatial distribution of queries in a utility supply network
A monitoring tool receiving a plurality of queries about the performance of a network, each query being a query about the performance of the network in a respective location. The tool groups queries that exhibit a predetermined spatial relationship with respect to one another. The locations of the queries in the group define a zone. If the number exceeds a threshold, then the zone warrants inspection and/or queries about network performance in the zone can be met with an indication that there appears to be a fault affecting the zone. Alternatively, the tool compares a plurality of stored areas, each area corresponding to a different time period and delimited by a boundary formed around the locations to which a plurality of network performance queries, in the respective time period, relate.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACING A COMMUNICATIONS PATH OVER A NETWORK
A call path through one or more communications networks can be traced by retrieving voice equipment information based on a call data record (CDR). A path through the networks and across multiple routers may be identified based on the CDR and voice equipment information. Router operation information may be retrieved from each of the multiple routers. A filterable interface can be generated based on the CDR, voice equipment information, and router operation information through which configurations to the networks may be performed.
