Method, Mobile Switching Centre, MSC, and a Computer Program Product for Detecting Interconnect Bypass

A method for detecting interconnect bypass by a subscription identity in a telecommunication network, said telecommunication network comprising at least a mobile switching centre, MSC, serving a plurality of subscription identities, said method comprising the steps of setting a bypass threshold value which indicates a number of originating calls from a subscription identity per pre-defined period of time, monitoring the number of originating calls from at least one of said plurality of subscription identities per said pre-defined period of time, and detecting when said monitored number of originating calls for one of said plurality of subscription identities exceeds said bypass threshold value, and issuing an alert message thereby indicating an interconnect bypass by said one of said plurality of subscription identities.

MITIGATING CALL SETUP DISRUPTIONS
20240364810 · 2024-10-31 ·

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for mitigating disruptions to telecommunications networks. A call setup time is determined from a network perspective. If the call setup time is sufficiently long, one or more corrective actions are taken in order to identify and/or resolve a network problem that could be contributing to the long call setup time. The corrective action(s) can include comparing call setup time performance by geographic region, comparing network-observed call setup times to user equipment-observed call setup times, and/or initiating cell reselection procedures, for example.

In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided apparatus, systems and methods for implementing DSL line fault determination and localization via SELT, DELT, and MELT diagnostics. For example, such a system or computer implemented method may include means for: receiving Metallic Loop/Line Testing (MELT) test output from applying a MELT test to a DSL line; receiving Dual-End Line Testing (DELT) test output from applying a DELT test to the DSL line; receiving Single-Ended Loop Testing (SELT) test output from applying a SELT test to the DSL line; determining one or more faults are present on the DSL line by comparing the MELT test output, the DELT test output, and the SELT test output; and localizing the one or more determined faults by comparing the MELT test output, the DELT test output, and the SELT test output. Other related embodiments are disclosed.

LOCALIZING FAULTS IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS

Various embodiments manage service issues within a wireless communication network. In one embodiment, a one or more call detail records associated with a set of wireless communication devices of a wireless communication network is received. A set of information within each of the one or more call detail records is compared to a baseline statistical model. The baseline statistical model identifies a normal operating state of the wireless communication network. At least one outlier call detail record in the one or more call detail records is identified based on the comparison. The at least one outlier call detail record indicates that at least one wireless communication device associated with the at least one outlier call detail record experienced one or more service issues.

Detecting cellular connectivity issues in a wireless communication network

Various embodiments manage service issues in a wireless communication network. In one embodiment, a plurality of call detail records associated with a wireless communication network is received. The plurality of call detail records is analyzed. At least one pattern from the plurality of call detail records is identified based on analyzing the plurality of call detail records. The at least one pattern indicates at least one service issue occurred during a set of calls associated with each of the plurality of call detail records. A location associated with the at least one service issue that has occurred is identified based on identifying the at least one pattern.

Cable damage detection

A system for monitoring connection status of a cable in a network comprising a detector operationally connected to the cable, a metal line test module, and a processor for receiving from the detector one or more connection status reports about connection of the cable to a network node, and configured to cause, upon a connection status report threshold being reached, a test of the cable by the metal line test module to confirm the connection status of the cable. Related apparatus and methods are also disclosed.

Detecting a loop length change in a digital subscriber line

Presented is a method of detecting a loop length change in a digital subscriber line. An Uncalibrated Echo Response (UER) trace is obtained from the digital subscriber line by running a Single Ended Line Test (SELT). A historical (baseline) UER trace from the same line is retrieved. A line that has experienced a small change in loop length will have the same overall shape, but be compressed or stretched in the frequency domain. Thus, to detect such a change, a comparison between the two traces is made to determine if the difference between the two traces is less than a threshold but non-zero. Then a range of scale factors are applied in the frequency domain on either one of the traces, before determining which of the scale factors results in the lowest difference between the unscaled and scaled traces. The determined scale factor is above a certain threshold, then the line is determined to have had a loop length change. The value of the scale factor can be used to determine the amount the length has changed.
