A method of fighting a fire includes aerating a firefighting foam composition to form an areated firefighting foam; administering the aerated firefighting foam to a fire or applying the aerated firefighting foam to a surface of a volatile flammable liquid; wherein: the firefighting foam composition includes a sugar component that includes a monosaccharide sugar and/or a sugar alcohol; an anionic surfactant; a zwitterionic surfactant; an organic solvent including glycol ether and/or glycol solvent; a polysaccharide thickener; and at least about 40 wt. % water; wherein the composition is substantially free of any amine oxide or nonionic surfactants; and the composition is substantially free of fluorinated compounds.

A fire suppressant including technical urea 10-30% (by weight), ammonium sulphate 20-50%, and sodium bentonite 12-26%. The fire suppressant further includes polypropylene glycol (polyglycol), alkyl sulfonic acid, castor oil, guar gum, and/or triethanolamine dodecylbenzene sulfonate. The fire suppressant does not pose any risk to plant or animal life since the product is completely benign and is classified as non-toxic. It does not cause any damage to aquifers or groundwater, and it biodegrades in 30 to 60 days.

The system includes a dry chemical spray subsystem, which has a dry chemical supply vessel, the dry chemical supply vessel mounted to the ESS trailer and a plurality of dry chemical distribution nozzles mounted within the battery pods, the dry chemical distribution nozzles fluidly connected to the dry chemical supply vessel by dry chemical distribution piping.

A forest fire retardant composition contains a retardant compound that includes a potassium salt. The potassium salt may include a potassium salt of an organic acid, a potassium salt of an inorganic acid, or mixtures thereof. The organic acid may include formic acid, acetic acid, propanoic acid, butanoic acid, lactic acid, oxalic acid, malic acid, gluconic acid, tartaric acid, uric acid, malic acid, or citric acid. The inorganic acid may include sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, carbonic acid, or hydrochloric acid. The composition may be in the form of a dry concentrate, a liquid concentrate, or a final diluted product. The final diluted product is effective in suppressing, retarding, and controlling forest fires while exhibiting corrosion resistance and low toxicity.

An aqueous fire-fighting composition includes a surfactant component that includes an anionic surfactant, a zwitterionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant, or a mixture of any two or more thereof; and a suspension agent comprising microfibrous cellulose. The suspension agent may include a water-soluble oligosaccharide and/or polysaccharide co-agent together with the microfibrous cellulose. The fire-fighting composition may also include one or more of a sugar component, organic solvent and a polysaccharide thickener, and be substantially free of fluorinated additives.
