SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING ONE NUMBER SERVICE IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELAY SERVICE
A system includes a TRS system for providing a transcription service to a user of the TRS system during a phone call with a peer and a communications device of the user which includes a phone call unit associated with the phone number and a TRS call unit associated with the virtual number. The TRS system includes a database which stores a phone number and a virtual number of the user, wherein the phone number is assigned from a carrier of the user and the virtual number is assigned from a TRS provider to the user; and a communications device of the user which includes a phone call unit associated with the phone number and a TRS call unit associated with the virtual number.
TRANSCRIPTION PRESENTATION OF COMMUNICATION SESSIONS
A system is provided that includes a first network interface for a first network type and a second network interface for a second network type that is different from the first network type. The system also includes at least one processor configured to cause the system to perform operations. The operations may include obtaining, from the first network interface, audio from a communication session with a remote device established over the first network and obtaining an indication of a communication device available to participate in the communication session and direct audio obtained from the communication session to a remote transcription system. The operations may also include directing the audio to the second network interface for transmission to the communication device, obtaining transcript data from the remote transcription system based on the audio, and directing the transcript data to the second network interface for transmission to the communication device.
SUPPORTING CAPTIONS FOR DEVICES WITHOUT NATIVE CAPTIONS CAPABILITY
A call is conducted with a first device of a user, the first device lacking captions capability. A second device of the user is identified for receiving captions for the call from among a plurality of second devices of the user based on one or more from a group of distances of the second devices to a location of the first device, display quality of the second devices, status of the second devices, and user preferences for the second devices. An identified second device is joined to the call to receive the captions during the call conducted with the first device.
Semiautomated relay method and apparatus
A method and system for providing captioned telephone service, the method comprising the steps of, initiating a first captioned telephone service call, during the first captioned telephone service call, creating a first set of captions using a call assistant, simultaneous with creating the first set of captions using a call assistant, creating a second set of captions using an automated speech recognition engine, comparing the first set of captions and the second set of captions using a scoring algorithm based on errors between the first and second sets of captions to generate a score for the second set of captions, in response to the score being within a predetermined threshold range, continuing the call using only the automated speech recognition engine to generate text and in response to the score being outside of the predetermined threshold range, continuing the call using a call assistant to generate captions.
SEMIAUTOMATED RELAY METHOD AND APPARATUS
A captioning relay for captioning hearing user (HU) voice signals comprising a plurality of separate captioning resources and a captioning administrator module that receives HU voice signal segments corresponding to a plurality of separate ongoing calls between HUs and AUs and provides the voice signal segments in a first in, first out order to the captioning resources, the administrator module providing each voice signal segment from each call to any one of the captioning resources to be captioned without regard to which captioning resource captioned prior voice signal segments generated during the call and, the administrator module further receiving caption segments back from the captioning resources and providing those captioning segments to AU devices associated with the calls that generated corresponding HU voice signal segments, and wherein the number of captioning resources is less than the number of ongoing calls.
DEVICE INDEPENDENT TEXT CAPTIONED TELEPHONE SERVICE
A communication system and method for displaying text captions corresponding to voice communications between an assisted user's mobile wireless device and a separate hearing user's device includes at least one communication component configured to enable the appliance to communicate with a relay, a display, and a processor operably coupled to the at least one communication component and the display. The processor is configured to enable the assisted user to establish an association between the appliance and the mobile device, receive text originating at the relay, the text corresponding to a transcript of the hearing user's voice signal originating at the hearing user's device, and cause text captions corresponding to the received text to be displayed on the display.
Hearing accommodation
A method may include obtaining a first audio signal including first speech originating at a remote device during a communication session between the remote device and a communication device and obtaining a second audio signal including second speech originating at the communication device during the communication session between the remote device and the communication device. The method may also include obtaining a characteristic of the communication session from one or more of: the first audio signal, the second audio signal, and settings of the communication device and determining a hearing level of a user of the communication device using the characteristic of the communication session.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING AND PRESENTING CONVERSATIONS
System and method for processing and presenting a conversation. For example, a system includes a sensor configured to capture an audio-form conversation, and a processor configured to automatically transform the audio-form conversation into a transformed conversation. The transformed conversation includes a synchronized text, and the synchronized text is synchronized with the audio-form conversation. Additionally, the system includes a presenter configured to present the transformed conversation including the synchronized text and the audio-form conversation.
AUTOMATED ATTENDANT THAT SPECIFIES AUDIO TRANSMISSION CHARACTERISTICS FOR CALLS
The technology disclosed herein enables automatic specification of audio transmission characteristics for calls between endpoints. In a particular embodiment, a method includes presenting a query to a user of a first endpoint about a type of call to be established with a second endpoint. The type of call is one of a plurality of call types that respectively correspond to different audio transmission characteristics. The method further includes configuring an audio transmission characteristic based on a response to the query and establishing a call between the first endpoint and the second endpoint using the audio transmission characteristic.
SWITCHING BETWEEN SPEECH RECOGNITION SYSTEMS
A method may include obtaining first audio data originating at a first device during a communication session between the first device and a second device. The method may also include obtaining an availability of revoiced transcription units in a transcription system and in response to establishment of the communication session, selecting, based on the availability of revoiced transcription units, a revoiced transcription unit instead of a non-revoiced transcription unit to generate a transcript of the first audio data. The method may also include obtaining revoiced audio generated by a revoicing of the first audio data by a captioning assistant and generating a transcription of the revoiced audio using an automatic speech recognition system. The method may further include in response to selecting the revoiced transcription unit, directing the transcription of the revoiced audio to the second device as the transcript of the first audio data.
