SEMIAUTOMATED RELAY METHOD AND APPARATUS
A method and system for providing captioned telephone service, the method comprising the steps of, initiating a first captioned telephone service call, during the first captioned telephone service call, creating a first set of captions using a call assistant, simultaneous with creating the first set of captions using a call assistant, creating a second set of captions using an automated speech recognition engine, comparing the first set of captions and the second set of captions using a scoring algorithm based on errors between the first and second sets of captions to generate a score for the second set of captions, in response to the score being within a predetermined threshold range, continuing the call using only the automated speech recognition engine to generate text and in response to the score being outside of the predetermined threshold range, continuing the call using a call assistant to generate captions.
Screen focus area and voice-over synchronization for accessibility
Systems and methods for synchronizing screen highlights and voice-over are disclosed. A system obtains a text container queued to be audibly read by a screen reader where the text container includes plain text and hyperlinks. The system determines each accessibility element in the text container, where each of the accessibility elements has one or more old accessibility frames associated with a screen highlight of a plain text or a hyperlink of the accessibility element, and where the screen highlight indicates what is being audibly read by the screen reader. For each of the accessibility elements, the system: determines one or more frames that captures the plain text or the hyperlink of the accessibility element to an exclusion of a plain text or a hyperlink corresponding to another accessibility element; converts the frames into a new accessibility frame; and replaces the old accessibility frame with the new accessibility frame.
911 call assistance for assisted device user
An assisted user's (AU's) captioning device for assisting an AU during a call with a hearing user (HU) wherein the hearing user uses a HU's communication device, the captioning device comprising a display screen and a processor linked to the display screen, the processor programmed to perform the steps of upon receiving a call, automatically determining if the call is from one of a first set of HUs, upon determining that the call is from one of the first set of HUs, automatically initiating captioning and presenting captions of an HU voice signal during at least a portion of the call, and upon determining that the call is not from one of the first set of HUs, starting the call without captioning and providing an option to the AU to initiate captioning during the call.
Word replacement in transcriptions
A method may include obtaining first audio data of a communication session between a first device and a second device and obtaining, during the communication session, a first text string that is a transcription of the first audio data. The method may further include directing the first text string to the first device for presentation of the first text string during the communication session and obtaining, during the communication session, a second text string that is a transcription of the first audio data. The method may further include comparing a first accuracy score of the first word to a second accuracy score of the second word and in response to a difference between the first accuracy score and the second accuracy score satisfying a threshold, directing the second word to the first device to replace the first word in the first location as displayed by the first device.
System and method for providing one number service in telecommunications relay service
A system includes a TRS system for providing a transcription service to a user of the TRS system during a phone call with a peer and a communications device of the user which includes a phone call unit associated with the phone number and a TRS call unit associated with the virtual number. The TRS system includes a database which stores a phone number and a virtual number of the user, wherein the phone number is assigned from a carrier of the user and the virtual number is assigned from a TRS provider to the user; and a communications device of the user which includes a phone call unit associated with the phone number and a TRS call unit associated with the virtual number.
ELECTRONIC COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION METHOD AND SYSTEM TO FACILITATE COMMUNICATION WITH HEARING OR SPEECH IMPAIRED PARTICIPANTS
An electronic communication method and system are disclosed. Exemplary methods can be used by hearing or speech-impaired participants in a conference, e.g., collaboration, environment to facilitate communication between conference participants.
Work process supporting system based on interactive voice and text communication
Disclosed is a work process supporting system based on interactive voice and text communication, and more particularly a work process supporting system based on interactive voice and text communication, in which at least one of a voice and a text is selectively applied according to congenital/acquired conditions of an information or service requester, so that a work process for providing information or service can be carried out, thereby freeing from constraints in input/output means for performing the work process for providing the information or the service and carrying out the work process while keeping continuity, reliability and accuracy.
Telephone system for the hearing impaired
Technologies related to telecommunications are described herein, wherein such technologies are configured to assist users with hearing impairments. The technologies described herein cause transcriptions of spoken utterances directed to a telephone in a telephone conversation to be presented on a display of the telephone nearly simultaneously with the spoken utterances being audibly output by the telephone.
Method and system for providing captioned telephone services
Internet Protocol captioned telephone service often utilizing Automated Speech Recognition has the capability of transcribing both sides of a conversation. Text bubbles can grow as the speech continues until a break. Synchronization among various user devices can occur during or after calls amongst devices including with the far end caller for some embodiments. A user can allow a call to go to voicemail and see the text and decide whether or not to pick up with transcription continuing for some embodiments.
TRANSCRIPTION OF COMMUNICATIONS THROUGH A DEVICE
A method to transcribe communications is provided. The method may include obtaining first communication data during a communication session between a first communication device and a second communication device and transmitting the first communication data to the second communication device by way of a mobile device that is locally coupled with the first communication device. The method may also include receiving, at the first communication device, second communication data from the second communication device through the mobile device and transmitting the second communication data to a remote transcription system. The method may further include receiving, at the first communication device, transcription data from the remote transcription system, the transcription data corresponding to a transcription of the second communication data, the transcription generated by the remote transcription system and presenting, by the first communication device, the transcription of the second communication data.
