Controlling communications equipment

Communications equipment associated with a calling party in a telecommunications network has a telephony function for handling telephone calls and a data communication application for handling data communication sessions. The telephony function and the data communication application have an associated first and second user interface respectively. A called party identifier is collected via the second user interface in response to user input at the communications equipment. A telephone call is set up between the calling party and the called party using the telephony function on the basis of the collected called party identifier. Data communication session setup information, comprising information identifying the called party, is transmitted on the basis of the collected called party identifier. The data communication session setup information is for establishing a data communication session separate from the telephone call for the communication of data between the calling party and the called party.

A computer-implemented method and system for enhancing interaction between a customer using a client computer and a customer service representative of a company using a workstation. A Web session is commenced on a Web site for the client computer of the customer, wherein the Web session includes displaying a first Web page to the customer. A telephonic interaction is commenced between the customer and the customer service representative and a split screen is displayed on the workstation. The split screen including the first Web page and a second Web page, wherein the second Web page is only viewable by the customer service representative. An application is caused to be moved from the second Web page to the first Web page for review and interaction by the customer via the client computer.

Selective data content sharing

Presented herein are selective data content sharing techniques that enable multiple data content windows displayed at a computing device to be separately displayed within a teleconferencing system. In one example, a content analyzer server of a teleconferencing system receives a request from a computing device connected to a local teleconference endpoint to initiate selective data content sharing. The content analyzer server is configured to identify a plurality of data content windows displayed at the computing device for selective sharing at separate displays of the local teleconference endpoint and at separate displays of one or more remote teleconferencing endpoints. The content analyzer server is further configured to split a data content stream originating at the computing device into a plurality of separate data content streams, wherein each data content window identified for selective sharing has an associated separate data content stream.

One embodiment is a method comprising: a conferencing system establishing a conference between a plurality of participants via a corresponding computing device connected to the conferencing system via a communication network; presenting a conference user interface to the computing devices, the conference user interface displaying each of the participants as a unique participant object in a virtual location; an online advertising platform selecting advertisement data from one or more advertisers; providing the selected advertisement data to the conferencing system; and displaying the advertisement data with an associated advertisement object in the virtual location during the conference.

A network node for handling access to sharing media in a media session in an Over The Top (OTT) Digital Assistant (DA). The media shall be shared between a first participant A and a second participant B in a communications network. The first participant A has access to sharing media in the media session in the OTT DA. The network node receives a request for access from the OTT DA. The request for access relates to the first participant A requesting access for the second participant B to sharing media in the media session in the OTT DA. The network node forwards the request to an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) node in the communications network, to trigger the IMS node to switch on the sharing of media in the media session in the OTT DA for the second participant B, when authorised by the participant B.

A computer-implemented method for managing calls in a collaboration environment is provided. The method includes receiving, by a processor, a call into a collaboration session of the collaboration environment. The method also includes identifying, by the processor, a user from a plurality of users associated with the collaboration session, based on at least one of contextual information regarding the call and information regarding the plurality of users. The method further includes providing, by the processor, an interface on a device associated with the identified user, wherein the interface enables the identified user to instruct the device to handle the call within the collaboration session.
