Call Handling between a Cellular Network and a Communication Service
20170238231 · 2017-08-17 ·

Techniques for call handling between a cellular network and a communication service are described. In at least some embodiments, a call refers to a real-time exchange of communication media between different communication endpoints. According to one or more embodiments, techniques described herein determine whether to route a call over a cellular network or to transfer (e.g., hand over) the call from the cellular network to a communication service. This determination can be made based on various policies that consider different call-related criteria.

A METHOD FOR ROUTING COMMUNICATION CALLS VIA VOIP AND VIA PSTN TO COMMUNICATION DEVICES AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCTS THEREOF

A method for routing communication calls via VoIP and via PSTN to communication devices and computer program products thereof A user (B) having a communication device (H) running an application (D) receives a communication call and upon the user (B) having decided, for a given data network, and before the call being received, which one of a VoIP or PSTN interface be preferred for receiving the call, the method comprising: if the VoIP interface is preferred, routing the communication call by a Communication Call Control Service (F) to the mobile communication application (D) as a VoIP call, and delaying the routing of the communication call over the PSTN interface; or if the PSTN interface is preferred, routing the communication call via the PSTN interface as a PSTN call, and if the result of the PSTN call indicates that said communication device (H) is not registered in the PSTN network further routing the communication call via the VoIP interface. Route and combine VoIP and PSTN incoming call alerts to maximise chance for the call to be answered.

Intelligent message manager

A message manager is capable of analyzing a number of inputs to dynamically adjust rules used to delete messages as well as determine what kinds of messages are likely candidates to be deleted due to their being stale. If a message is determined to be a likely candidate for deletion, the message manager may query the user if they want to delete all messages with similar characteristics, e.g., sender, title, dates sent, time sent, recipients, content, context, and the like. If the user selects “yes” then the message manager may automatically update its deletion rules and further delete all messages in accordance with the user's selection.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

Described herein are methods, devices, media, and systems for managing emergency communications and providing seamless data extraction from a communication device by an emergency service.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPORTING AN EMERGENCY CALL SERVICE IN AN IP MULTIMEDIA SUBSYSTEM SESSION DURING HANDOVER
20170223515 · 2017-08-03 ·

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate the handover from a packet switched network to a circuit switched network while an Internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) session is ongoing. In the context of a method, a notification is received of the handover from a packet switched network to a circuit switched network while an IMS session is ongoing. The method also receives an indication that an emergency call service is active in the IMS session and determines that media resources in the circuit switched network are required to support the emergency call service, as supplemented by a minimum set of emergency related data, that is active in the IMS session. The method may further include causing the media resources to be reserved in the circuit switched network to support the emergency call service that is active in the IMS session.

Data communication

A method of establishing a communications session for communication of data with respect to at least two user devices in a data communications network. A client-server connection request is received from at least one of the at least two user devices. Call party details of a telephone call are received. The telephone call involves at least a first telephony user device and a second telephony user device. The call party details include a first identity associated with the first telephony user device and a second identity associated with the second telephony user device. At least one of the first and second identities comprises a telephone dialing number. A separate communications session is established on the basis of the first and second identities received in the call party details.

Systems and methods for transitioning calls are presented. In one example, data is received associated with a connected wireless mobile phone call. The data may include identification data of a far end call participant. A user selection is received to initiate an outgoing call to the far end participant. The outgoing call is initiated over a wired connection to the far end participant.

UE and communication method thereof

A User Equipment (UE) including a controller configured to perform, in a case of failure of a connection attempt for a first emergency call that uses a Packet Switched (PS) domain, a connection attempt for a second emergency call that uses the PS domain, a transmission and/or reception unit configured to receive a service reject message due to the failure of the connection attempt for the first emergency call, wherein the UE uses a first access network for the connection attempt for the first emergency call, and the UE uses a second access network for the connection attempt for the second emergency call. Accordingly, a user equipment, a core network apparatus, a control method to be performed by an IMS apparatus, and the like are provided for the user equipment to connect to a network suitable for an emergency call service in 5th generation (5G) mobile communication system, which is a next-generation mobile communication system.

System and method for evaluating the quality of a communication session

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for evaluating the quality of a communication session or of a communication path used for the communication session. One of the methods includes initiating a communication session between a first communications device and a second communications device, wherein initiating the communication session comprises routing session data for the communication session along a first communication path between the first communications device and the second communications device; generating, at the first communications device, a plurality of reference content samples; generating a recording of the communication session as received at a first destination along the first communication path; and evaluating a quality of the communication session or of the first communication path by comparing the plurality of reference content samples with the recorded communication session.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING CALLS

A computer-implemented method for managing calls in a collaboration environment is provided. The method includes receiving, by a processor, a call into a collaboration session of the collaboration environment. The method also includes identifying, by the processor, a user from a plurality of users associated with the collaboration session, based on at least one of contextual information regarding the call and information regarding the plurality of users. The method further includes providing, by the processor, an interface on a device associated with the identified user, wherein the interface enables the identified user to instruct the device to handle the call within the collaboration session.
