Method and apparatus for transmitting data in a communication system
A method and apparatus for transmitting data in a communication system including a transmitter and receivers, each receiver being connected to the transmitter via a communication channel, the method including: precoding the data for transmission on the channels to provide first precoded data; using the first precoded data, for each channel, computing a number of bits to be allocated to that channel; determining that the bit allocation does not satisfy one or more criteria; ranking the channels in an order based on channel properties; discarding for use as a direct channel, one or more channels based on the ranking; precoding the data for transmission on the channels accounting for the discarded channels to provide second precoded data; and transmitting, by the transmitter, the second precoded data on the channels.
Digital subscriber line transceiver
A digital subscriber line transceiver for transmitting data over a twisted metallic pair using an orthogonal frequency division multiplex technique and employing a time division duplex mode of operation is operable to adopt a plurality of different framing structures including a first framing structure having a frame duration equal to a first predetermined frame duration period and including a downstream set of symbols and an upstream set of symbols, with gaps after each set of symbols summing to a total gap duration of one symbol duration. The different framing structures further include a second framing structure having a frame duration equal to the first predetermined frame duration period and including first and second downstream sets of symbols, first and second upstream sets of symbols and gaps after each of these sets of symbols summing to a total gap duration of an integer number of one or more symbol durations.
SYSTEM AND RELATED METHOD TO DIAGNOSE NOISE AFFECTING IMPAIRMENTS USING DEEP LEARNING
A system for diagnosing noise impacting impairments affecting a Digital Subscriber Line includes at least one processor and at least one memory storing instructions. The at least one memory and the instructions configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the system at least to, receive noise sequences for said Digital Subscriber Line; detect noise symptoms in said noise sequences and identify noise impacting impairments associated with said noise symptoms using a trained machine learning model; and determine an impact on said Digital Subscriber Line of a plurality of noise impacting impairments.
Partial echo cancellation duplexing
Methods, circuitries, and systems for transmitting data upstream between a first device and a second device and downstream between the second device and the first device are disclosed. A method includes determining an upstream crosstalk effect for an upstream channel and determining a downstream crosstalk effect for a downstream channel. The crosstalk effect includes near end crosstalk from a third device that is non-co-located with respect to the first device and the second device. A data rate of an upstream transmission or downstream transmission is adjusted based on the upstream crosstalk effect and the downstream crosstalk effect.
Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer for Sending Communication Signals to Customer Devices
Methods and systems are provided for managing communications. A control network device may send a downlink communication signal to an end-user device, downstream of the control network device within a communication network, concurrently via at least a first wired connection and a second wired connection, and may manage the communication of signals. The end-user device may not be directly connected to the second wired connection. The managing may include configuring the downlink communication signal to generate a total received signal at the end-user device, which may correspond to combining of a first received signal, corresponding to communication of the downlink communication signal via the first wired connection, and a second received signal, corresponding to effects of communication of the downlink communication signal via the second wired connection at the end-user device. Power of the total received signal may meet preset criteria relating to power of the first received signal.
DATA TRAFFIC-AWARE DYNAMIC VECTORING
A method employing traffic-aware vectoring for transceiving data between a network side entity defining a network side, and at least two nodes defining a subscriber side, via a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication channel, over a plurality of subcarrier frequencies, the method comprising: determining an allocation that allocates each of said subcarrier frequencies for preceding with either one of a steady-state precoder, and at least one dynamic precoder; monitoring downstream data traffic from said network side entity toward said at least two nodes; and constructing said at least one dynamic precoder to optimize a bit-rate of said downstream data traffic, according to said monitoring, and said allocation; wherein said at least one dynamic precoder is configured to change with varying said data traffic conditions.
Low power modes for data transmission from a distribution point
Methods and devices are discussed. A device configured to operate in a network comprises communication circuitry and a transceiver.
METHOD AND SYSTEM TO IDENTIFY A SOURCE OF SIGNAL IMPAIRMENT
A method and system for managing performance of over a multimedia content distribution network (MCDN), such as a digital subscriber line network, involves receiving an indication of an impairment in network performance from an MCDN client. The MCDN node associated with the client may be identified and a community of MCDN clients coupled to the MCDN node may be further identified. Impairment information, representative of MCDN equipment, may be collected for each of the MCDN clients. Detailed network diagnostics and field service may be performed for MCDN clients based on a characterization of the impairment parameters. After remediation of the MCDN node, collection of the impairment information may be terminated.
METHOD OF GENERATING AND HANDLING OF DSL-CONNECTION PROFILES, THEREBY PROVIDING AN ADAPTATION FUNCTIONALITY OF A DSL-CONNECTION
A method of generating and handling of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connection profiles includes: collecting, each time a service is requested by a user of a DSL-connection, individual service-based-data, wherein the individual service-based-data comprise the start time and end time of use of the requested service and a transmit spectrum routed via the DSL-connection during the use of the requested service; analyzing the collected individual service-based-data and based thereon assigning to the analyzed collected individual service-based-data a current individual DSL-connection profile comprising individual repetition times and an individual mean transmit data rate; comparing the current individual DSL-connection profile with an individual DSL-connection profile stored in an operations scheduling memory; and based on the comparing, updating an already stored individual DSL-connection profile based on the current individual DSL-connection profile or storing the current individual DSL-connection profile as a further individual DSL-connection profile in the operations scheduling memory.
