Electromagnetically actuated bicycle trainer and resistance control method thereof
An electromagnetically actuated bicycle trainer includes a base, a support assembly disposed on the base, and a hysteresis resistance generating module. The support assembly includes a support arm, and a fastening member disposed on the support arm and for securing an axle of a pedaling wheel. The hysteresis resistance generating module includes an inner magnetic stationary member and an outer magnetic stationary member, a semi-hard magnetic rotating member between the inner magnetic stationary member and the outer magnetic stationary member, and a conductive coil. The conductive coil receives an electric power and senses opposite magnetisms that the inner magnetic stationary member and the outer magnetic stationary member generate. Thus, the semi-hard magnetic rotating member is caused to generate a hysteresis resistance when rotated in response to hysteresis effects.
SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS FOR ENABLING EXERCISE EQUIPMENT TO COMMUNICATE WITH A NETWORK
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for enabling exercise by a user. In one aspect, an apparatus includes a communication unit, a user interface unit, and a processor. The processor may receive user identification data from the user via the user interface unit and retrieve data based on the user identification data from an electronic data store. The processor may use the data to generate an exercise routine and command signals may be sent to an exercise machine based on the generated exercise routine. The processor may receive exercise data from the exercise machine via the communication unit and store the exercise data in the electronic data store.
Pedal Drive System
A pedal drive system, in particular for an electric vehicle or a training apparatus, and for generating electrical power from muscle power of a user with at least one pedal and an electric generator, connected mechanically with said at least one pedal, is provided. To improve the haptic feel and feedback at the pedal, a control unit is provided for controlling a feedback torque, applied at said pedal, wherein the control unit comprises a haptic renderer, configured for control of said feedback torque based on at least one predefined pedal reference trajectory.
PORTABLE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISE MACHINE, RESISTANCE BAND EXTENSION, AND TRANSPORT MECHANISM
An exercise apparatus having a pulley, a pair of stabilizing assemblies each configured to couple a front portion of a respective pedal element to each side of the pulley, a looped belt configured to couple the pulley to a resistance assembly, a tension stabilizer configured to maintain a tension of the looped belt on the pulley, and the resistance assembly configured to assert an adjustable resistance to the pedal elements through the looped belt. The exercise apparatus also comprises a resistance band extension for performing additional exercise using resistance bands and a transport mechanism for transporting the exercise apparatus and securing the exercise apparatus to a chair wheel or other structure during exercise.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EXERCISE ENERGY UTILIZATION
A system for capture, storage, and usage of electric energy generated by humans during exercise activities, including exercise devices having a modular control-power storage unit that incorporates energy conversion units arranged to transform mechanical energy of the at least one human participant into different storable forms of energy, at least one energy storage module arranged to store energy in at least one storage medium, and at least one control unit arranged to provide digital or analog control for the at least one modular control-power storage unit. The system may also have a communication and networking subsystem structured as a networking device and arranged to connect to and communicate bay exchanging information with at wired and/or wireless network.
Leg-powered treadmill
A motor-less leg-powered curved treadmill produced that allows people to walk, jog, run, and sprint without making any adjustments to the treadmill other than shifting the user's center of gravity forward and backwards. A closed loop treadmill belt running between front and rear pulley rollers is formed with a low friction running surface of transverse aluminum, wooden, plastic, rubber or carbon fiber slats attached to each other in a resilient fashion. Since an essential feature of treadmill is the concave shape of the running surface of belt in its respective upper portion, the treadmill configurations insure that this shape is maintained during actual use. These configurations prevent the concave upper running surface portion from being pulled taut into a flat shape between the front and rear pulley rollers.
Therapeutic method and device for rehabilitation
The invention relates to embodiments of methods for extending a subject-controllable range of joint motion, and for increasing subject control of joint movement within a range of motion. Embodiments include fastening a powered device around a joint so as to be able to control the joint, allowing the subject to move the joint within a range of volitional motion, and then engaging the powered device to support movement of the joint into an expanded, rehabilitative range. In some embodiments, the device supports joint movement by substantially providing the force to move the joint beyond the volitional boundary. In other embodiments, supporting movement includes the subject substantially providing the force, and the device allowing movement only in a desired direction. The invention further relates to a system for increasing the functional capability of a joint by implementing embodiments of the method. By such methods and system, rehabilitation is accomplished both by building strength, and training neural pathways.
STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE TRAINING SYSTEM
A strength and endurance training system. The system includes a first assist-resist system, which includes a first motor that is activated and deactivated by a first motor controller, a first drum coupled to the first motor, a first connecting member provided between the first drum and a coupling device which is attachable to an object/individual, and a computer system configured to use as input one or more of i) a measurement of distance of the coupling device form the first assist-resist system, ii) a predetermined strength value, and iii) a measurement of external force applied to the coupling device by the individual and thus operate the first assist-resist system in one of i) a resistive mode, wherein a resistive force is applied to the coupling device when the coupling device moves away from the first assist-resist system, ii) an assistive mode, wherein an assistive force is applied to the coupling device when the coupling device moves towards the first assist-resist system, and iii) a bypass mode, wherein a negligible force (between about 0 Nabout 5 N) is applied to the coupling device.
FULL BODY FITNESS EQUIPMENT
A fitness device includes a main body, a left wing extending outwardly from the main body in a first direction, and a right wing extending outwardly from the main body in a second direction opposite the first direction. A cable extends from the main body to each of the left wing and the right wing. The fitness device further includes a gearbox, a spool assembly connected to an input end of the gearbox, a brake assembly connected to an output end of the gearbox, and a pulley assembly.
Stable treadmill slat
A motor-less leg-powered curved treadmill produced that allows people to walk, jog, run, and sprint without making any adjustments to the treadmill other than shifting the user's center of gravity forward and backwards. A closed loop treadmill belt running between front and rear pulley rollers is formed with a low friction running surface of transverse aluminum, wooden, plastic, rubber or carbon fiber slats attached to each other in a resilient fashion. An essential feature of treadmill is the concave shape of the upper portion of the belt running surface, the treadmill configurations ensure that this shape is maintained during actual use. These configurations prevent the concave upper running surface portion from being pulled taut into a flat shape between the front and rear pulley rollers. The slats of the treadmill each have an end view crossectional I-beam shape, for strength and stability of the slat positioned upon the treadmill belt.
