METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR ACCESS CONTROL CLIENT ASSISTED ROAMING
Methods and apparatus that allow a device to migrate wireless service across multiple wireless networks. In one exemplary embodiment, the present invention enables storing and switching between multiple Electronic Subscriber Identity Modules (eSIM), where each eSIM is specific to a different carrier network. By loading the appropriate eSIM, the user device can authenticate itself with the selected carrier, rather than roaming. During roaming operation, the user equipment can load one or more of the previously stored eSIMs. Selection of the eSIM can be done manually by the user or can be driven by the user equipment based on desired context; for example, based on carrier signal strength, cost-effectiveness, etc. Support for multiple radio technologies also allows universal connectivity for wireless devices, even spanning previously incompatible technologies such as GSM (Global Standard for Mobile Communications), CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access), etc.
Protocols for facilitating broader access in wireless communications responsive to charge authorization statuses
Structures and protocols are presented for signaling a status or decision concerning a wireless service or device within a region to a communication device (smartphone or wearable device, e.g.) or other wireless communication participant (motor vehicle having a wireless communication capability, e.g.).
Destination device billing according to call recipient
A method, system, and program for billing for service provided to destination device according to the calling plan of the individual receiving the call. An authenticated identity for a callee answering a call placed to a destination device is received at an intermediary device. The intermediary device then accesses a billing plan for the authenticated identity of the callee and loads the billing plan for specifying charges for the call, such that telephone service billed to the callee is accessible at multiple destination devices.
Method and apparatus for selecting a network access subscription
Various methods for selecting a network access subscription are provided. One example method includes receiving a request to participate in a communications session, determining that at least two subscriptions for network access are available, determining tariffs for one or more connection types that are available through each subscription, 5 determining cost factors for each connection type of the at least two subscriptions based on the tariffs, and selecting a target subscription and a target connection type for use in satisfying the request based on the cost factors. Similar and related example methods and example apparatuses are also provided.
Charge management system, charge management method, program, program providing system, and maintenance system
A charge management system includes a user managing unit configured to manage pieces of user identification information for identifying users and pieces of terminal identification information for identifying transmission terminals, each piece of user identification information being associated with pieces of terminal identification information for identifying transmission terminals used by a user identified by the each piece of identification information; and a calculating unit configured to calculate a participation charge to each of the transmission terminals, bases on a total participation duration in which the each of the transmission terminals has participated in a conversation during a predetermined period, and calculate a total participation charge to each of the users by summing up the participation charges to transmission terminals specified by the pieces of terminal identification information associated with the each piece of the user identification information.
System, method, and computer program for managing a shared quota for a plurality of network subscribers in a consumer telecommunications network
A system, method, and computer program product are provided for managing a shared quota for a plurality of network subscribers in a consumer telecommunications network. In use, a first usage quota reservation out of a shared quota is allocated to at least one first subscriber among a plurality of network subscribers. Further, it is determined that at least a portion of the shared quota is available. Additionally, a progressively smaller at least one second usage quota reservation out of the at least a portion of the shared quota is recursively allocated to the at least one first subscriber among the plurality of network subscribers, the smaller at least one second usage quota reservation being smaller than the first usage quota reservation out of the shared quota.
HUMAN MOBILITY MEASURING METHOD
The invention relates to a human mobility measuring method comprising a structuring step where CDR raw metadata is filtered so as to identify a device identification, a cell site identification, a date, and a time; a data frame generating and sorting step where the filtered CDR metadata is sorted and the filtered sorted CDR metadata are projected into an occupancy grid comprising a location vs. time-bin matrix, a probabilistic map generating step of a device's location in space and time, and a filtering step to accurately represent human mobility from patterns that reflect errors, uncertainties, or patterns not related with real human mobility. The method further comprises a gap filling process allowing for a continuous localization of the device by extrapolating any trajectory in space and time of any device and a projecting step comprising projecting the trajectories defined at a Voronoi grid defined by the sites and towers to the road and street grid
MULTIFUNCTION WIRELESS DEVICE
A communication device and system are disclosed for providing communication and data services to residents of a controlled facility. The device can be restricted to communicating only using an internet protocol so as to restrict the device communication to an internal intranet. Wireless access points may be disposed throughout the environment to route calls and data between the device and a central processing center. By converting a protocol of the communications received from the device to a protocol used by the central processing center, minimal modifications to the central processing center are needed to support a wireless communication infrastructure. Many restrictions and safeguards may be implemented within the phone and system in order to prevent improper use.
Charging method and device involved in a protocol data unit (PDU) session
Embodiments of this application provide a charging method. The method includes that a session management function determines, a data flow within a protocol data unit, PDU, session and a charging key corresponding to the data flow within the PDU session, wherein a plurality of user plane functions are involved in the PDU session. For each of the plurality of user plane functions, the session management function sends to an online charging system, a quota request for a charging key without available quota for the UPF.
METHODS AND NODES FOR UE-TO-UE EVENT MONITORING
A network exposure node receives a reference identity for the network exposure node in a first monitoring message from a first network node. The network exposure node further retrieves, based on the reference identity for the network exposure node, an identity list of one or more subscriber UEs, which subscribed to monitoring of an event, and configuration information for the one or more subscriber UEs, which are stored in the network exposure node. The network exposure node then determines, based on the identity list and the configuration information, a second network node associated with a subscriber UE in the identity list. Next, the network exposure node transmits a report for the monitoring of the event in a second monitoring message to the determined second network node.
