Charging policy information for a packet data unit session of a wireless device
A charging function (CHF) receives, from a policy control function (PCF), a first request for charging policy information for a packet data unit (PDU) session of a wireless device. The charging policy information is determined for the PDU session of the wireless device. The charging policy information indicates a charging method comprising one or more of: online charging; offline charging; and converged charging. A message comprising the charging policy information is sent to the PCF. The CHF receives from a session management function (SMF), a second request to establish a charging session. The second request comprises the charging method. A confirmation for the charging method is sent to the SMF.
METHOD FOR MANAGING THE REPORTING OF THE PRESENCE OF A TERMINAL WITHIN A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
A method is disclosed of managing the reporting of the presence of a communications terminal in a communication network including a control rules application entity able to implement a presence reporting mechanism and a credits management entity configured to transmit a request for subscription to the presence reporting mechanism to the control rules application entity. The method includes verifying, during the establishment of a communication session between the terminal and a packet communication network, involving a control entity providing control rules to the control rules application entity, that the control entity is configured to trigger a subscription to the presence reporting mechanism with the control rules application entity. When the control entity is configured to trigger a subscription to the presence reporting mechanism, an indicator of intervention of the presence reporting mechanism is dispatched to the credits management entity, to inhibit a subscription to the mechanism by the credits management entity.
APPARATUS FOR NETWORK ACCESS SETUP AND METHOD THEREFOR
Disclosed in one embodiment of the present invention is a method for a user staying in a first country to be authorized in advance, before entering a second country which is different from the first country, to use a network service on a user terminal in the second country, without buying a local USIM after arriving in the second country or using a roaming service.
VIDEO INTERCONNECT TERMINATION CHARGING
This disclosure describes a video interconnect system that may establish a Video over Long Term Evolution (ViLTE) communication session between two interacting client devices. In some examples, the video interconnect system may selectively establish a ViLTE communication based on one or more rules associated with the domain information of interacting client devices, availability of network bandwidth, bandwidth consumption of a video component of the ViLTE communication, or established service agreements between telecommunication service providers of the interacting client devices. Further, the video interconnect system may facilitate generating termination charges for a video and/or audio communication session of a ViLTE communication. For example, a video component of the ViLTE communication may be charged and metered based on data usage, and an audio component of the ViLTE communication may be charged and metered based on the duration and relative location of the interacting client devices.
Systems and methods for reducing wireless network congestion
A method for reducing wireless network congestion including receiving an initial request for network access from a mobile device and determining a customer support time period associated with an initial location. In response to receiving the initial request for network access, the method includes transmitting a request to a network node and receiving, from the network node, a rejection message denying access to the network. The method includes denying the initial request based on the rejection message. The method includes receiving a subsequent request for network access that includes a subsequent location. The method includes determining that identifying information associated with the subsequent request matches identifying information associated with the initial request. The method includes denying the subsequent request when the subsequent location is the same as the initial location and a request time of the subsequent request is outside the customer support time period.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS OF USING REMOTE SUBSCRIBER IDENTIFICATION MODULES AT A DEVICE
The present invention discloses methods and systems for communicating at a cellular router between a first wireless communication module and a first subscriber identity module (SIM). The cellular router receives a first request from a first wireless communication module and encapsulates the first request in a first modified request. The cellular router then sends the first modified request to a first SIM card in a first communication apparatus and waits for a first modified reply. While waiting for the first modified reply the cellular router sends at least one halt message to the first wireless communication module after a first time threshold. After receiving the first modified reply, the cellular router decapsulates the first modified reply to retrieve a first reply and sends the first reply to the first wireless communication module where the first modified reply is a reply to the first modified request.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENABLING OPTIMIZED REPORTING RELATED TO POLICY CONTROL REQUEST TRIGGERS
A first network device may receive, from a second network device, a first policy control create request and may provide, to the second network device, a common policy control request trigger. The first network device may receive a second policy control create request associated with a user equipment (UE) and may cause a UE policy to be provided to the UE. The first network device may receive, from a third network device, a third policy control create request and may provide a network device policy to the third network device. The first network device may receive, from the second network device, a policy control update request based on the common policy control request trigger and may generate an updated UE policy or an updated network device policy based on the policy control update request.
MOBILE EMERGENCY RESPONSE NETWORK
A mobile emergency response network may be utilized to respond to emergencies. Emergency response resources may be selected and deployed through the use of network communications between user equipment and network elements. In an example configuration, a mobile emergency response network may receive emergency data, determine an emergency is occurring, determine a resource requirement for the emergency, identify a mobile device associated with a user who meets the resource requirement, and send a request to the mobile device.
POLICY BASED SELECTION OF NETWORK
Apparatuses and methods for policy based selection of a network. In one embodiment, a method implemented in a user equipment (UE) includes obtaining a transfer policy from a policy node of a first network, the transfer policy being associated with a network selection for an application; and determining whether the application is to be transferred from using the first network to using a second network based at least in part on the obtained transfer policy, the first network being one of a standalone non-public network, SNPN, and a public land mobile network, PLMN and the second network being another one of the SNPN and the PLMN and the transfer policy being based at least in part on at least one of: (i) Quality-of-service, QoS, information associated with the application and (ii) whether the UE has a subscription to the second network.
SEAMLESS CUSTOMER DATA MOVE BETWEEN SOURCE AND TARGET CHARGING FUNCTION ELEMENTS OF A COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
A charging system includes a source charging function element of a communications system. The source charging function element includes at least one processing circuit that is operative to process charge events for network charging related to a customer identifier to write customer data indicating the network charging into a source data partition of a global storage system. Based on receiving an event message, the source charging function element determines the customer identifier based on content of the event message and performs a look up in a translation function to obtain a mapping between the customer identifier and at least data partition that includes the source data partition. When the customer identifier is determined to be mapped by the translation function to the source data partition and to a target data partition, the source charging function element communicates with a target charging function element.
