The charging policy obtaining method may be used in a broadband network gateway, and specifically includes the following steps: receiving an authentication, authorization, and accounting request from user equipment, where the authentication, authorization, and accounting request includes a user name and a user equipment identifier; sending a charging policy request to a first server, where the charging policy request includes a first field and a second field, the first field is used to carry the user name, and the second field is used to carry the user equipment identifier; and receiving a charging policy response sent by the first server, where the charging policy response includes a charging policy corresponding to the user name and the user equipment identifier, and obtaining the charging policy from the charging policy response.

A system and method that matches owner-operated wireless radios to a carrier network for voice and data services, using a marketplace model that geographically identifies and values the need for such radios and allows owners to claim rights to operate such radios. The purpose of the settlement system is to encourage individuals and businesses to operate a wireless radio to enhance a carrier network, establishing greater coverage and additional access points for wireless carriers, whilst the owner is compensated for the operations of one or more wireless radios based on radio usage. In the next generation of wireless networks, the number of wireless radios is expected to significantly increase, causing resource constraints for carriers to secure land and permits to install wireless radios. By utilizing the system, carriers may build networks faster by leveraging owners who assist with the installation and operation of radios, as an owner-operated network.

A preferred contact group centric interface for a communication device can be used to facilitate communications by a user. The user interface can be arranged to activate from a user's “home page” on the display, from an idle screen that is accessed after a timeout period expires, or any other appropriate mechanism that activates the preferred contact group centric experience. The system obtains data associated with UE, representing interaction between the UE and a network. The data includes: previous bandwidth usage associated with the UE, previous CDR associated with the UE, anticipated geolocation of the UE, a plan associated with the UE, one or more media events, a number of lines associated with the UE, a length of time the UE has been associated with the network, and a unique identifier associated with the UE. The system obtains multiple plans associated with the network, where a plan indicates the bandwidth usage associated with the UE within a predetermined period. Based on the data, the system predicts the bandwidth usage associated with the UE within the predetermined period to obtain a predicted bandwidth usage and determines the plan among the multiple plans accommodating the predicted bandwidth usage. The system requests the bandwidth usage associated with the plan from the network.
