Technologies for converting mobile communications network billing records
Technologies for converting mobile communications network billing records include a billing record converter system. The billing record converter system receives a data usage billing record associated with a mobile computing device communicatively coupled to a long term evolution wireless communications network. The received data usage billing record is formatted according to a real-time data usage billing record format. The received data usage billing record is converted into a new data usage billing record formatted according to a roaming data usage billing record format that corresponds to a legacy wireless communications network. The new data usage billing record is transmitted to a billing system of the legacy wireless communications network for processing. In some embodiments, the billing record converter system cumulates and converts multiple data usage billing records associated with the mobile computing device into the new data usage billing record. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
System and method to facilitate the assignment of service functions for service chains in a network environment
A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include receiving a first Internet protocol (IP) flow for an IP session for a subscriber; selecting a first service function group from a plurality of service function groups to perform one or more services for the IP session for the subscriber, wherein each of the plurality of service function groups comprises a plurality of service function chain types and wherein each service function chain type comprises an ordered combination of one or more service functions; assigning the IP session for the subscriber to the first service function group; and forwarding the first IP flow for the IP session of the subscriber across a first service function chain type for the first service function group based, at least in part, on a service policy for the subscriber.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING USAGE IN A CONVERGED CHARGING SYSTEM
Systems and methods described herein include receiving, at a network device, a message including an identifier associated with a subscriber and an identifier associated with a rating group associated with one or more data flows and determining a data quota and one or more usage monitoring thresholds associated with the subscriber. The data quota indicates a first amount of data associated with the rating group that the subscriber is authorized to use during a time period and the one or more usage monitoring thresholds indicate one or more second amounts of data associated with the rating group and one or more service flows that the subscriber is authorized to use during the time period. The network device transmits the data quota and the one or more usage monitoring thresholds, receives data usage information, and processes the data usage information.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SHIFTING CALL HANDLING ACROSS MULTI-REGION SERVICE CLUSTERS
A system for handling calls in a network includes a memory storing instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to perform operations. The operations include receiving information about the calls for a time interval, determining, for the time interval, a total cost associated with handling the calls, including a network cost associated with transmitting data over the network, a processing cost for processing the information related to the calls, and a cost of dynamically reassigning master and slave roles to a plurality of nodes in the network. The operations further include determining an assignment of the master and slave roles for a plurality of accounts being handled by the plurality of nodes that results in the total cost having a minimum value, and implementing the optimal assignment among the plurality of the accounts based on the determination.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENCODING OF LOCAL BANDWIDTH CONDITIONS INTO TUNNELING MESSAGE
A method, a system, and a non-transitory storage medium provide for encoding a general packet radio service (GPRS)-tunnel endpoint identifier (GTP-TEID) with data identifying radio frequency (RF) bandwidths supported in a local radio environment (LRE) from which a user equipment (UE) device accesses the wireless access station; sending, via a signaling channel, the GTP-TEID to a core network device; notifying one or more core network devices of an RF bandwidth category level corresponding to the identified RF bandwidths; and applying at least one of a policy rule or a charging rule to a packet data unit (PDU) session for the UE device, based on the RF bandwidth category level.
USE OF DIFFERENT DATA RATES FOR POLLING IN A MULTI-RATE NETWORK
A first node operates in a network. The first node sends a polling message to a second node over a link at a first data rate, receiving an acknowledgement message from the second node. Based at least in part on receiving the acknowledgement message, the first node determines the second node is available to receive an information message. Based at least in part on the determining the second node is available to receive the information message, the first node sends the information message to the second node over the link at a second data rate. The second data rate is based at least on an indication of observed behavior of the link and the first data rate is based at least on the second data rate. For example, the first node may determine the first data rate to be a next slowest available data rate than the second data rate.
Method and system for enhancing charging for co-located SGW and PGW
The present disclosure relates to a method of charging packets in a mobile network using a combined packet gateway (PGW) and serving gateway (SGW) which includes receiving a data packet; determining at least one of a rating group and a service rule associated with the data packet; and determining a state of a user device associated with the data packet. When the determined state of the user device comprises a connected state, the method includes charging the data packet, including updating an amount of credit in an account associated with the user device based on the at least one of the rating group and the service rule, and sending the data packet to an enodeB. When the determined state of the user device comprises an idle state, the method includes preventing delivery of the data packet to the enodeB such that the data packet is not charged.
Dynamic scheduling for network data transfers
Methods and apparatus for dynamic pricing and scheduling of network data transfers are disclosed. A system a plurality of network-accessible resources and a data transfer coordinator. In response to a client request for a network transfer of a data set, the coordinator determines, based at on a network-related metric of one or more resources, at least one time window during which a portion or all of the data set is transferable for a pricing rate below a threshold. The coordinator notifies the client of the time window and provides a duration-limited token authorizing data transfer during the window. The coordinator determines whether a network transmission of data on behalf of the client is valid based at least in part on a time at which the transmission is initiated and at least in part on a use of the token.
Policy Management Method and Apparatus
A method includes: receiving first information, where the first information indicates a data network to which a first anchor UPF network element managed by the second SMF network element is connected; determining based on the first information, first rule information to be executed by a first network element managed by the second SMF network element, where the first network element includes at least one of the first anchor UPF network element or a branching point, the branching point is a UPF network element having a traffic offload function, the branching point is connected to the first anchor UPF network element, the first rule information indicates a processing method to be performed on a data packet of a first application, and the data packet of the first application is transmitted through the first anchor UPF network element; and sending second information, where the second information includes the first rule information.
