SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING WIRELESS NETWORK CONGESTION
20230300718 · 2023-09-21 ·

A method for reducing wireless network congestion including receiving, at a network node, an initial request for network access from a mobile device from an initial location of the mobile device. In response to receiving the initial request for network access, the method includes determining whether a data allocation for the mobile device has been exceeded and denying, by the network node, the initial request for network access when the data allocation for the mobile device has been exceeded. The method includes receiving, at the network node, a subsequent request for network access from the mobile device from a subsequent location of the mobile device. The method includes denying, by the network node, the subsequent request for network access when the subsequent location is in the same geographic region as the initial location and a request time of the subsequent request is outside a customer support time period.

Call processing system for modifying inmate communication limits
11750746 · 2023-09-05 · ·

A system for customizing time limits for inmate communications in a correctional facility is disclosed. The system includes a profile subsystem that stores an inmate profile of the inmate and a communication processing subsystem comprising one or more processors configured to receive data of an inmate communication of an inmate, identify a type of communication device of the inmate and a call recipient of the inmate communication based on the data of the inmate communication, retrieve the inmate profile of the inmate form the profile subsystem, identify a plurality of behaviors of the inmate based on the inmate profile, determine a time limit based on at least one of the type of communication device, the call recipient of the inmate communication, and the plurality of behaviors of the inmate, and assign the time limit to the inmate communication of the inmate.

Systems and methods for switching zero charge callers
11622248 · 2023-04-04 · ·

Asynchronous and/or synchronous zero charge telephony protocol systems and methods may include an asynchronous signaling switch and/or a call duration time quota from a synchronous charging onset to place and complete a call. A first device call request is received with a second device mobile address. The asynchronous systems include instructions to automatically modify the mobile address with a routing prefix when the first device has insufficient balance or independent of balance, route to the asynchronous signaling switch based on an associated modified address trunk path, revert the modified call signal at the asynchronous signaling switch to the call signal, and deliver and automatically disconnect the call immediately when the call is completed. The synchronous systems include instructions to automatically set the call duration time quota upon insufficient balance, and deliver and automatically disconnect the call from the second user mobile device when the call is completed and the call duration time quota is exceeded.

SECURE TOKENS FOR CONTROLLING ACCESS TO A RESOURCE IN A RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK
20230029357 · 2023-01-26 ·

A system for generating and applying a secure token in a resource distribution network is provided. For example, a headend system generates a time-based token based on a time duration specified for a meter. The time-based token indicates the time duration for the meter. The time-based token is further generated based on an identifier of the meter. The headend system transmits the time-based token to the meter via at least a mesh network. After receiving the time-based token, the meter validates the time-based token to determine that the time-based token is generated for the meter based on information related to the identifier of the meter. If the meter determines that the time-based token is valid, the meter connects premises associated with the meter to a resource distribution network for at least the time duration specified in the time-based token.

Transfer of cellular services from a postpaid subscriber to a prepaid subscriber
11546476 · 2023-01-03 · ·

A method and system for transferring access to cellular services from a postpaid subscriber account to a prepaid subscriber account are disclosed. A central postpaid system receives a request to transfer cellular services from the postpaid subscriber account to the prepaid subscriber account. The cellular services are transferred to a central prepaid system for the prepaid subscriber account. The amount of the transferred cellular services is deducted from the postpaid subscriber account stored in the central postpaid system. A monetary amount from the prepaid subscriber account is credited to the postpaid subscriber account for the transferred amount of cellular services.

Method and Apparatus for Dynamic Realtime Sharing of Credit Units for Online Charging
20220286564 · 2022-09-08 ·

Dynamic adjustment of consumption limits governing the consumption of credit units from a “provider account” (24) offers numerous advantages in the context of Online Charging (OC), both to the involved communication network operator(s) and to the users or applications associated with the UEs (12) that use communication services subject to credit availability in the provider account (24). Specifically, two or more “consumer” accounts (26), each associated with one or more UEs (12), consume credit units from the provider account (24), for authorizing communication-usage by the associated UE(s) (12), subject to a respective consumption limit, which may be regarded as defining an allocated share of the credit units in the provider account (24), for use by the consumer account (26). Adjusting the consumption limits one or more times during the validity period of the credit units offers the opportunity to rebalance the credit allocations, such as in view of aggregate rates or amounts of consumption or consumption imbalances.

Functions and Method for Handling a Credit Pool of Service Units
20210314747 · 2021-10-07 ·

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a Control Plane (CP) function for handling a credit pool comprising granted service units to be used by multiple services. The multiple services are grouped in at least one first Rating Group (RG). The CP function creates an individual Usage Reporting Rule (URR) for each of the at least one first RG. Each individual URR comprises a first credit pool threshold. The CP function provides the individual URRs to a User Plane (UP) function. The CP function creates a Usage Reporting Rule for the Credit Pool (URR CRPL). The URR CRPL comprises instructions to the UP function to aggregate service unit usage for all individual URRs for all first RGs. The URR CRPL further comprises the first credit pool threshold. The CP function provides the URR CRPL to the UP function.
